Dev HW EPM is responsible in leading a broad cross-functional team in developing the primary Development boards needed for each projects/project phases before the NPI build, to enable HW design validation, diagnostic FW bring up work and feature development work kick off, leveraging a strong technical background to effectively manage and communicate cross-functional issues, risks and schedules. This role is providing a unique opportunity to combine deep technical expertise with program management skills that enables critical HW and FW validation/bring up work, with impact across multiple x-functional teams.

Description

Manage the planning and execution of product prototype builds, leading a cross-functional team of electrical, software, and mechanical engineers. Set and communicate clear objectives for the build schedule, serving as the primary point of contact for the program with Contract Manufacturer (CM) partners. Lead multi-functional engineering team meetings to discuss design scope, set timelines, and ensure timely completion. You'll understand the complexities of system HW development board architecture and collaborate with teams to facilitate feedback through the internal design review process. Work closely with MPM and System HW, Acoustic EE and other x-functional teams early in the product concept and development lifecycle to define functionality, feasibility, simulation requirements and performance of features for the main dev system, daughter card builds, by ensuring timely kick off each board design.(15%)

Set and communicate clear objectives for the build schedule, serving as the primary point of contact for the program with Contract Manufacturer (CM) partners, IC vendors and module vendors for builds.(15%)

Drive HW, DFM and x-functional teams during pre- proto builds for timely design of hardware development boards using placement, schematic capture and review. Along with working with PCB designers for timely execution of OK2Fabs.(15%)

Responsible DRI for ensuring that Dev HW ADB is opened up on time with all pertinent details on the Dev HW across all relevant program teams, by working with EPS, System EPM and other responsible DRIs, ensuring all potential combinations of the dev boards are communicated clearly and on time.(5%)

Work with EE Technicians and factory team on potential dev board rework needs, daughter card SOP/OTP updates, and micro-schedule tracking of each board delivery for the program;(5%)

Lead multi-functional engineering team meetings to discuss design scope, set timelines, and ensure timely completion with executive engineering and cross-functional leadership.(5%)

Understand the complexities of system integration and collaborate with teams to facilitate feedback through the internal design review process, specifically working with REL, HW test engineering, EE and other factory facing teams to ensure that ERSs are clearly specifying/implementing/documenting testing process control and data collection for HW validation of the product.(5%)

Work with Silicon engineering and other cross functional LOBs to define silicon level demand, build needs and validation and qualification matrices per build.(5%)

Maintain good communication and provide multiple levels of status to individual contributors and executive management (5%)

Preferred Qualifications

Strong technical background in EE or ME. Masters in Engineering is a plus.

4+ years of project management experience with experience in working with CM partners

Detailed knowledge of product development cycles & strong understanding of manufacturing processes

Experienced in setting up project schedules and work breakdown structures

Ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience

Excellent communication, presentation, organizational and leadership skills

Highly disciplined in workflow, process, and staying organized on priority tasks

Superior attention to detail with a strong commitment to rigor and excellence.

Ability to manage complex build matrices and build planning through complex schedules

Self motivated and proactive with creative and critical thinking capabilities.

Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles and constant change; remains flexible and calm in the face of uncertainty.

Minimum Qualifications

BS engineering degree required

4-8+ years of project management experience

Experience and familiarity with consumer electronic industry

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $141,800 and $258,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
