Do you love taking on big challenges that require exceptionally creative solutions? Do you deeply understand how an incredible camera experience should work? As part of our Camera Technologies group, you'll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You'll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You'll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we'll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras.
The Camera Hardware Engineering Team is responsible for all research, design, development, test, and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. We are seeking an extraordinary Mechanical Engineer (FEA) to evaluate and work on camera hardware modules and component parts.","responsibilities":"Own and drive analysis of innovative products, enabling early optimization prior to prototyping, as well as root cause and failure analysis of difficult mechanical problems.

Generate finite element models/analytical models of camera modules and camera components.
Communicate and report analysis results to team as well as multi-functional teams.
Recommend design changes/directions to meet product performance requirements.
Own and drive material characterization and testing to support modeling efforts.
Coordinate and work with other analysts to integrate module models into larger assembly models.
Participate in team brainstorming and new technology development.
Occasional travel to manufacturing partners is required.
Preferred Qualifications
MS/PhD and 3+ years of relevant industry experience
Experience in running non-linear static and dynamic Finite Element Analysis using Abaqus, Ansys, or equivalent CAE packages in large volume consumer electronics industry
Expertise in structural, thermomechanical, and heat transfer modeling
Additional expertise in fracture mechanics, adhesive materials, electromagnetic, acoustic, and CFD is preferred
Experience in modeling of different classes of materials including polymers, elastomers, soft adhesives, and brittle materials
Experience with calibration, verification, and validation of models through physical testing
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with multi-functional teams, management, and external vendors
Proficiency in Matlab, Python, and Abaqus User Subroutines is a plus
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Material Science or similar concentration
