Battery Development Engineer

Join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in advancing the next generation of battery technologies! You will drive the development of disruptive energy storage technologies through direct technical contribution and technical leadership. Evaluate and integrate emerging electrochemical innovations that require novel manufacturing approaches and challenge existing battery industry paradigms. Act as a technical lead across cross-functional teams to tackle the most challenging technical problems in novel electrochemical systems, working collaboratively with industry partners to rapidly advance cutting-edge battery technologies from research to engineering validation.

Description

In this role you will:

- Develop technical solutions for complex electrochemical challenges, including advanced materials, novel design integration, and system architecture optimization. Drive the evaluation and integration of disruptive electrochemical cell technologies through experimental design, prototyping oversight, and validation programs that assess manufacturing innovation requirements and industry disruption potential.

- Translate advanced research concepts into engineering prototypes through technical leadership. Establish and execute experimental plans that advance fundamental understanding and practical implementation of next-generation battery systems. Design and execute comprehensive testing and characterization to evaluate the effectiveness of potential solution paths. Establish practical pathways from laboratory concepts to engineering validation through experimental program direction with focus on manufacturing readiness and commercial viability.

- Foster collaborative problem-solving environments that combine rapid experimentation with rigorous technical analysis. Partner directly with industry leaders, suppliers, and research institutions to leverage specialized expertise and accelerate technical progress.

- Develop practical solutions for real-world implementation challenges, including safety, reliability, and manufacturing feasibility. Drive accelerated development cycles through systematic experimentation, rapid iteration, and creative problem-solving approaches.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of relevant industry experience

MS or PhD in electrochemistry, materials science, mechanical engineering, or related field

Experience with novel materials integration, and experimental validation and program design

Ability to drive breakthrough innovation through experimental program leadership

Strong verbal and written communication, teamwork, and project management skills

Travel may be required to support collaborative development activities and experimental validation work

Minimum Qualifications

BS degree

Experience with electrochemical systems and battery cell design
