Description

We are looking for exceptional engineers who specialize in building resilient, fault-tolerant distributed systems. You will stand out by demonstrating unique leadership abilities and a talent for navigating complex technical challenges, all while maintaining a relentless focus on the end-user experience.

In this role, you will take deep technical ownership of a high-throughput, multi-tenant platform. You will drive projects completely end-to-end, from initial architecture and design reviews through to seamless production releases. Leveraging your strong technical background and deep understanding of scalable backend architectures, you will ensure our services meet strict requirements for scalability, high availability, and low latency. Beyond just writing code, you will act as a key partner to teams across Apple, translating complex requirements into robust backend solutions that directly enable new customer-facing features.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and support a multi-tenant platform with many underlying technologies

Partner with teams across Apple to develop and ship new customer-facing features

Drive end-to-end project execution, from design reviews through production releases

Deploy, scale, and maintain highly concurrent and throughput-intensive services

Triage, investigate, and remediate production and operational issues

Preferred Qualifications

Strong fundamentals in storage systems

Familiarity with high-performance caching mechanisms

Familiarity with event streaming and queueing systems

Prior experience with media processing

Hands-on experience working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and technologies

Strong problem-solving skills

Minimum Qualifications

5+ years of experience developing software in Java, including advanced object-oriented design and development

Demonstrated experience building and operating distributed systems with strict requirements for scalability, high availability, and low latency

Experience working with distributed NoSQL and relational database technologies

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $139,500 and $258,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
