ANE Pre-Silicon Driver Engineer
The Apple Neural Engine Software team develops the compiler and runtime for machine learning accelerators on Apple Silicon.
Description
In our ANE software team, we are dedicated to providing hardware acceleration using the Apple Neural Engine to enable real time, low power and high performance execution of Deep Learning workloads. Our success is the result of very dynamic people working in an environment which cultivates creativity, partnership and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
Analyze and implement software interfacing with the hardware for artificial intelligence applications across a wide range of Apple product platforms
Develop software across our framework, driver and firmware
Collaborate closely with model teams to support new machine learning models on our hardware
Work cross functionally with hardware and software teams to resolve issues
Conduct performance profiling and diagnostics using and developing specialized tools
Engage with QA teams
Preferred Qualifications
MS or PhD in computer science, machine learning or related field

Experience in low level software architecture, modeling or validation
Familiarity with AI networks for example CNN, transformer and diffusion model architectures and their performance characteristics
Proficiency with profiling and optimizing complex software
Experience with SoC low level software development, distributed computing or hardware acceleration
Strong background in data science and statistical methods, with demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets and present complex insights clearly
Experience with MLIR
Experience with Swift
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Minimum Qualifications
BS and a minimum of 10 years experience with system software development
Experience with compiler development
Excellent programming skills in C, C++ or Python
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $184,700 and $324,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
