AIML - Senior Software Engineer, Machine Learning Platform Technologies

Yesterday Seattle, WA

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to shape how we measure the success and reliability of Apple Intelligence software features. This role is at the intersection of feature delivery, telemetry design, and data insights-helping teams understand how real users experience our products and guiding engineering decisions through trustworthy data. You'll architect and build systems that capture meaningful signals from our software stack, design metrics that reveal product health, and ensure that every new feature ships with measurement built in from the start. The ideal candidate has strong engineering skills, deep curiosity for how products behave in the wild, and a data-driven mindset that treats measurement as a product capability, not an afterthought.

Description

In this role, you'll work with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate measurement into feature development from the start. You'll design data models and instrumentation, establish SLAs and success metrics, and ensure telemetry is accurate, privacy-preserving, and actionable. If you love building systems that tell the truth about how software performs and guiding product decisions through data, we'd love to hear from you

Preferred Qualifications

Experience driving technical decisions using insights from data and telemetry.

Strong sense of ownership for data integrity and system reliability.

Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional engineering initiatives.

Experience with distributed systems, cloud data infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or internal equivalents), and observability tools.

Familiarity with privacy-preserving data collection and measurement design principles.

Enthusiasm for building developer-facing tools that improve product health visibility.

Minimum Qualifications

BS/MS in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Strong programming skills in Python, Go, Java, or Swift, with a focus on scalable, maintainable systems.

Proven experience designing and instrumenting telemetry for measuring product success, reliability, or performance.

Ability to translate product or engineering goals into measurable outcomes and define the right metrics to validate them.

Familiarity with on-device telemetry or iOS development (Swift, Xcode, UIKit/SwiftUI) is a strong plus.

Collaborative and proactive in partnering with multiple engineering teams to ensure measurement and observability are consistent and reliable.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to make complex systems understandable and actionable.
