As a Senior Platform Engineer - API Management you will collaborate with others in the division to provide and maintain applications that meet our needs. Responsible for software design and development for moderate to complex business solutions, providing technical guidance and leadership for specific applications.
You will report to Senior Manager, Engineering.

Position Compensation Range:
$99,000.00 - $167,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Support API platform migration from Layer 7 to Apigee, ensuring smooth cutover and improved developer experience
- Expand platform automation and IaC:
- Terraform for Apigee prod/non-prod environments
- Automated proxy/shared-flow deployments
- Self-service API product creation and lifecycle workflows
- Disaster recovery/failover procedures
- Build and operate API infrastructure (proxies, shared flows, API products) using standard policies (OAuth/JWT, rate limiting, mediation, service callouts)
- Implement enterprise Postman automation/integrations:

- GitLab CI/CD workflows to sync collections/specs with repos
- Automate publishing specs to Apigee for proxy generation
- Automate publishing API docs to the software catalog
- Define workspace governance and collaboration patterns
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of application architecture, design alternatives, and development standards.
- Demonstrated experience communicating technical information. Demonstrated experience developing complex software/systems using one or more programming language.
- Demonstrated experience establishing, using and supporting integration and communications technologies between applications, databases and technology platforms.
- Demonstrated experience analyzing and estimating project size and work efforts for software solutions.
- Demonstrated experience writing and modeling application system design and program specifications.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of systems development life cycle (SDLC).
- Solid Knowledge and understanding of integration and migration strategies and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science/Engineering (or equivalent practical experience)
- 7+ years middleware and API platform experience (platform operations and increasing scope)
- 4+ years Apigee administration (OPDK/Hybrid/X): proxy/shared-flow development, API products
- Apigee architecture expertise (Nginx routers, Cassandra, Kubernetes integration, advanced troubleshooting)
- 4+ years Google Cloud + Linux administration experience
- CI/CD and automation in production: GitLab pipelines, Terraform (IaC), Python/shell scripting
- API security expertise: OAuth, JWT, API keys, mTLS; grant types (Auth Code/PKCE, Client Credentials, Refresh Token)
- Container/Kubernetes experience: Docker, GKE/EKS, cloud-native deployment patterns
- API testing/documentation: Postman, OpenAPI/Swagger, API catalog management; Postman automation integrated with CI/CD
- Observability/monitoring: Datadog (logs, performance tuning)
- Layer 7 (CA API Gateway) migration/platform transition experience
- Message-oriented middleware/integration patterns (Kafka, MQ)
- Security/encryption: SSL/TLS, PKI, certificate management, troubleshooting
- Relevant certifications (Apigee, Layer 7, GCP, Terraform)

In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month out of our Madison, WI or Boston, MA offices.
