Lead Financial Planning Advisor or Senior Financial Analyst (Hybrid)
This role in Expense Management FP&A supports expense management through planning, forecasting, and analysis, and by providing decision support to business partners and leadership. You will deliver clear insights on expense performance, drivers, and outlook, and help strengthen financial discipline through effective reporting, routines, and communication.
You will report to the Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis supporting Operating Company Expenses.
Depending on qualifications and experience, this position may be filled at the Senior Financial Analyst or Lead Financial Planning Advisor.
We will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for this position.
In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10 days per month from the office. Candidates should reside within approximately 35-50 miles of one of the following office locations: Madison, WI 53783 or Boston, MA 02110.

Position Compensation Range:
$88,000.00 - $145,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.
Primary Accountabilities
- Lead expense planning and forecasting activities for assigned business partners, including assumptions, risks/opportunities, and alignment to targets.
- Deliver recurring monthly expense performance reporting (actuals vs plan/forecast), including variance drivers, trend analysis, and outlook updates.
- Provide business partner decision support: scenario analysis, trade-off recommendations, and financial impacts for initiatives.
- Build and maintain expense models (e.g., run-rate, workforce, vendor, initiative-based) to improve forecast accuracy and transparency.
- Prepare and present expense and performance insights to divisional leadership; occasionally support executive-level materials.
- Collaborate with leaders to define and monitor expense KPIs/metrics and identify opportunities to improve business results.
- Improve FP&A processes through stronger data management, reporting automation/standardization, and scalable routines that reduce manual effort.
- Serve as a finance representative on cross-functional teams, ensuring financial implications are understood and reflected in decisions.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in expense planning, forecasting, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Strong business partner skills: ability to translate financial results into clear insights and influence decisions.
- Advanced analytical and modeling capabilities; comfort with large datasets and creating repeatable processes.
- Experience with FP&A tools such as Adaptive Planning, Oracle, or Anaplan (preferred).
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with SQL/Python/data automation capabilities is a plus.
- Knowledge of insurance accounting/operations and/or P&C expense management (preferred).
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
