Binding Authority Specialist - LIC
Work with wholesale placement teams and underwriting teams on specialty binding authority business. Accountable for policy formation, renewals, endorsement underwriting and issuance, bind request analysis, small policy underwriting review for third-party carrier excess/surplus business. Develop relationships with internal partners with a focus on efficiency and customer service. The Binding Authority Specialist will report to Senior Manager, Production Underwriting.
Position Compensation Range:
$62,000.00 - $103,000.00

Compensation may vary based on the job level and your geographic work location. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.
Primary Accountabilities
- Underwrite renewals, less complex excess/surplus coverages and endorsements.
- Ensure that quotes and binders are confirmed in writing and policies are formed promptly following the binding authority guidelines and statutory and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure taxes and fees are correct on policies.
- Review and analyzes binder quotes, shares analysis findings with agents, provides new quotes and rating premium submissions to meet production goals.
- Maintain complete client documentation, record data needed to issue insurance and follow up for missing information.
- Keep up to date with binding authority underwriting guidelines, best practices, and any change in regulatory or statutory environment.
- Build underwriting reports and checks for consistency and reviews and handle inspection recommendations and discrepancies as suggested by the underwriter. Communicate with clients and agencies needed and work with the underwriting team to understand underwriting processes.
- We may require you to complete other assignments or participate in projects based on skills, achievements, or experience.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- Demonstrated experience providing customer-focused solutions or support.
- Demonstrated experience using PC software applications (e.g., Internet Explorer, Outlook,)
- Demonstrated experience underwriting or underwriting binding authority for commercial, excess and surplus or specialty personal lines products.
- Solid knowledge of state-specific regulations and system/procedural support for insurance or brokerage products such as excess/surplus products.
- Demonstrated experience using reference materials, reading policy language, and processing rules and procedures.
- Solid knowledge of excess/surplus policy formation, processing processes, terms and procedures.
Licenses
Required to maintain current, active license(s) status by continuing education and meeting all state, operating and regulatory requirements.
Travel Requirements
- Up to 5%.

In this hybrid role, you will be expected to work a minimum of 10days per month from the office.
