Data Scientist (Hybrid)

Your role in the team
As a data scientist on the measurement science team you will have the opportunity to work on high value, high visibility projects across the entire enterprise. This role is tasked with providing clarity to problems with high degrees of uncertainty.
Your role will be responsible for the following: applying advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to evaluate business metrics, designing and analyzing business experiments (A/B, multivariate tests), applying quasi-causal techniques (propensity scoring, difference-in-difference), and maintaining high code-quality practices to ensure insights are reproducible. This role will manage projects of medium complexity and contribute to projects of high complexity.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the team and works on data and business problems in order to improve the effectiveness of business decisions and business results through designing, building, and partnering to implement appropriate measurement, experimental, or quasi-causal designs. Understands the business' problems to identify the optimal design choices.
- Utilizes effective project planning techniques to break down moderately complex measurement, statistical, and machine learning projects into tasks and ensure deadlines are kept
- Identifies languages, tools, and methodologies that can bring efficiencies and rigor to the team
- Reviews, evaluates and communicates appropriateness of measurement designs and results to team, leadership and stakeholders to ensure these are well understood and incorporated into business processes. With coaching, develops and executes communication strategy, keeping stakeholders informed and finding opportunities to influence the direction of work.
- Uses best practices to develop statistical and machine learning techniques to build models that address business needs and to improve the accuracy of our data and data-driven decisions

Essential Skills:
- All applicants must demonstrate they have a legal right to work in the UK for employment at Allstate. Allstate is not providing sponsorship for this vacancy.
- A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience applying causal inference methodologies (A/B testing, experimental design, quasi-causal approaches, propensity score matching/weighting)
- Strong foundation in statistical inference including hypothesis testing, general linear modelling, and Bayesian inference
- Experience in statistical and machine learning fundamentals, including model evaluation, feature engineering, and supervised/unsupervised learning principles
- Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis, data manipulation, and model development.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with dashboards or visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
- Familiarity with software engineering best practices (version control, code review, testing frameworks).
- Experience using CI/CD pipelines or modern development workflows for deploying data products, experiments, or analytics automation.
