The Actuarial Analyst is accountable for supporting the achievements of ACG's short and long term Mission, Vision and strategic objectives. The Actuarial Analyst assists in a variety of actuarial analysis and research, consolidates premium and claims data to facilitate rate adequacy or reserving analyses, and provides general analytical support to the Actuarial or Market Teams. The Actuarial Analyst works as part of the Actuarial team to successfully meet ACG's performance requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, recommend, develop, integrate and maintain analytical programs such as SAS and Visual Basic for Actuarial Data projects and procedures, as well as undertake associated analysis
- Extract and manipulate data for regular reports and analyses, and ad hoc request as required by the actuarial function.
- Maintain, update and become experts of the actuarial databases, and be able to analyze its contents.
- Provide required services to support Pricing Managers and Risk managers with implementation of rate changes and associated rate filings.
- Identify, develop, implement, update and regularly evaluate the effectiveness of competitive analysis tools in analyzing and producing reports to facilitate pricing decisions.
- Authority to bind ACG resources as described in the 'authority to bind AGC resource commitment document
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Education or equivalent working experience: Bachelor's Degree in actuarial or mathematics field
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field and 1 SOC/CAS Exam
- Previous experience/areas including levels required:
- Data extractions and reconciliation - Advanced applied theory
- Ability to develop comprehensive reports - Advanced applied theory
- Conceptualize comprehensive reports - Novice limited experience
- Creation of modelling datasets - Novice limited experience
- Leveraging all of our data assets - Intermediate practical application
- Create model metrics and deliver self-serve analysis - Intermediate practical application
- Ability to choose optimal data and analytics solution - intermediate practical application
- Ability to understand business operations and processes that would impact ACGs data - Intermediate practical application
- Ability to translate business opportunity/problem into a data and analytics driven solution - Novice limited experience
- Develop appropriate solutions based on available information, business objectives, and recognizes the impact and implications of decisions - Novice limited experience
