Job Description
Summary

At HII we build and maintain U.S. Navy readiness every day. The Facilities Department is looking for a Tool Room Custodian to overlook tool/equipment related projects and assist in resolving discrepancies in tool/equipment planning and purchasing as well as perform as the backup driver and receiver for the department.MJ1

What you will do

  • Coordinates equipment and machinery maintenance for assigned facility.
  • Maintains contact with employees, departments, and vendors s in all tool/equipment-related projects and assists in resolving discrepancies in design specifications for tools/equipment for planning and purchases.
  • Inspects tool/equipment (or tool/equipment projects) for conformance to procedural requirements (QA/EHS).
  • Communicates with operations regarding needs for their tasking (tools, PPE, etc.)
  • Manages requests for indirect welding gases and maintains Gas Guardian information for all gas bottles received at the facility
  • Manages requests for PPE, as well as purchase/storage of PPE, for all employees in area (with some additional PPE for travel teams)
  • Maintains Tool Room management (with Tool Tracker database) for the facility (calibration, checkout, processing of new tools, inventory, LDD, purchases, estimates, etc.)
  • Point person for tool/equipment requests for the Tool Room
  • Point person for specialized tool/equipment kits for departments
  • Assists employees and departments in locating tools in FSG inventory and/or defining purchases required
  • Maintains records and FleetFinder database entries of facility vehicles as well as maintenance/repair of vehicles
  • Assists with maintenance / repair activities for region as directed by Fac Supr
  • Maintains warranty information for tools in Tool Room that have such information
  • May drive vehicles ranging from trucks (F250-like), flatbeds (F450 or International) as well as commercial vans.

What you must have
  • Must have High School Diploma/Equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Must have knowledge of hand and power tools, PPE, equipment and/or related equipment kits for checkout, inventory and/or maintenance purposes.
  • Must have experience making repairs to tools and equipment.
  • Must have experience preforming electrical safety checks on tools and equipment
  • Must have experience maintaining records and entries in a database, spreadsheet or related system.
  • Must have familiarity navigating logistics database or similar system.
  • Must have a minimum of 6 months professional experience driving a medium Gross Vehicle Mass Rating (GVMR) vehicle (between 10,000 – 26,000 pounds) and/or higher.
  • Must have ability to obtain/maintain access to a DBIDS card.
  • Must have ability to obtain/maintain access to several bases and shipyards in the VA area.
  • Must have ability to access CIA areas with ability to obtain/maintain a NAVSEA badge.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.


Preferred: Bonus points for...
  • Familiarity with Hampton Roads area preferred.
  • Candidates with current or past forklift certification a plus.
  • CDL a plus
