Systems Engineer, Lead

Huntington Ingalls Industires Technical Solutions Division is currently seeking a motivated Systems Engineer to lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team in the analysis and decomposition of customer requirements. As part of our Tactical Sensor Systems team, located in Syracuse, NY, you will be helping to advance leading edge Radar, EW and communications systems and technologies. We are looking for a candidate who is a self-starter and can work with minimal oversight.

The Lead Systems Engineer must be a "big-picture" thinker who thrives on solving challenging technical problems. You will be leading a multi-disciplinary team consisting of software, digital, hardware, mechanical and product engineers.

The Lead System Engineer responsibilities include:
  • Develop systems engineering work products such as trade studies, system architecture, requirements analysis and requirements decomposition/derivation
  • Translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Requirements tracking and management using appropriate tools
  • Assist in the development of system architecture and interface design
  • Modeling and simulation of complex embedded systems
  • Participate in internal and customer design reviews and meetings
  • Train and mentor junior engineers

Characteristics of a successful candidate include attention to detail, creativity, focus on customer expectation, willingness to work outside comfort-zone, effective written and presentation skills. The Lead Systems Engineer will receive mentorship from Principal Engineers who will aid in career growth and development.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Bachelor's degree in the field of Electrical Engineering or similar with 5-7 years of industry experience.

Experience in system analysis, requirements derivation, and system design.

Experience with requirement management tools and Model Based System Design a plus.

A team player with the demonstrated ability to successfully lead cross-functional teams.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with customers, management, and peers.

Familiarity with EW, Radar and/or communication technologies preferred.

Security Clearance Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen. Applicants selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Existing SECRET clearance is a plus.
