Position Description

The System Administrator-Mid Level shall Install, configure, and maintain network switches, routers, workstations, servers and other peripherals that support LAN/WAN activities. Optimize and fine tune performance and troubleshoots common to complex system and network problems. Develop instructions for and assist with installing, implementing, integrating, and maintaining networked systems. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and LAN/WAN problems. Resolve connectivity and interoperability issues between network components. Identify and determine corrective actions to be taken. Maintain configuration oversight of the systems and network components. Ensure components are functioning properly and that system backups are conducted to prevent loss of data. Install upgrades or modifications on customer work stations. Administer, Create and delete user accounts, assigns and resets passwords.

Position Specific Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and Collaborate with government designated personnel to identify and mitigate Operating System and software security vulnerabilities on mission system and network devices and servers.
  • Install, test and validate the proper operation and configuration of system patches and security fixes as required
  • Maintain network configuration, perform network engineering; and advise and make recommendations on new equipment Prepare and update in-station system block diagrams, network maps; maintain network and facility configuration plans.
  • Maintain network and facility configuration plans
  • Manage, develop, maintain and support virtual environments and networks.
  • Provide technical advice and solutions for software, hardware, and network connectivity
  • Assist in the preparation documentation and compliance forms
  • Provide SME support to setup and maintain multiple storage devices and technologies
  • Provide support identifying resources needing refresh or new systems and components as required

Education/Certifications:

Degree in Computer Science or a related Field with two (2) years of experience or five (5) years of related experience or awarded Air Force AFSC 3D0/service equivalent. Security+ (Required)

Relevant Experience:

Experience in System / Network Administration; Experience with maintaining and troubleshooting system resource issues and security issues. Experience with small and large network environments and supporting computer resource issues, resolving problems, installing systems, updating and upgrading systems; Possess excellent analytical and technical problem-solving skills.

Key Requirements:

Training/experience with various unclassified open source tools and anti-virus tools/concepts to include but limited to: Nmap, Metasploit framework. Linux CLI, OSSEC, SELinux, Nikto, Windows System Intervals, Burp Suite, Powersploit, Volatility, Commix, Routersploit, Redsward, Pig, Scapy/Python, SQLmap, Bless Hex Editor, Firewalk, Wireshark, Visio, Docker, Symantec, McAfee, Kaspersky, and AVG.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience
