Who We Are

At HII we build and maintain U.S. Navy readiness every day. We are currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer who will be supporting our Systems Integrations department working on-site for modifications and installations to telecommunications, data centers, and satellite communications facilities. This is a full-time onsite position located in Honolulu, HI. Selected candidate will be required to travel to shipyards and military bases located around or out of the country when not assigned to a local task. Per diem available based on location when on travel, travel and lodging expenses are covered by the company.

What You Will Do

The selected candidate will perform duties including; removal, installation and modifications to major and minor equipment and cables, may be required to ensure connectivity and functionality of equipment, use diagnostic tools for troubleshooting and identifying deficiencies, install and troubleshoot configurations of telecommunications hardware and software ensuring the desired performance of telecommunications equipment, use technical knowledge to provide assistance and engineering solutions involving different modes of information transfer such as wireless telephony services, internet and broadband technologies.

May perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

What You Must Have

  • Must have 4 years of relevant progressive experience with a Bachelors Degree in related fields, 2 years of relevant progressive experience with a Masters degree in related fields, or a High School diploma or equivalent and 8 years of relevant progressive experience.
  • Must have experience successfully executing complex project change order management.
  • Must have experience forecasting and managing complex multi-system EACs.
  • Must have experience managing complex PAO&Ms and incorporating revolving schedule/production changers over project lifetime.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical, electrical/mechanical drawings.
  • Must have on-site Project Management experience.
  • Must have a DOD TOP SECRET SCI Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility/base credentials and be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be fully COVID-19 immunized.


Bonus Points For...

  • Experience working DOD related C4I/communications contracts preferred.
  • Knowledge of structure/infrastructure drawings preferred.
  • Candidates with an active U.S. Passport preferred.


Physical Requirements

Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
