Senior Data Modeler/Enterprise Architect - 38013

Job Description

Alion Science and Technology is looking for a Senior Data Modeler/Enterprise Architect. The Data Modeler designs and documents product and enterprise architecture solutions. The modeler coordinates and collaborates with a variety of sources (SMEs, documentation, and technical contacts) to create models within the Architecture Framework. The Architecture Framework includes data views, process views and other views necessary to document the approved design of the product. The modeler is also responsible for integrating product modeling views into the Enterprise-level models. The modeler will work in a modeling project team environment with multiple modelers collaborating to develop a consistent set of views for the project.

• Through collaboration with the Design and Development Teams, design, model and document business and IT data requirements through new modeling strategies and designs across all data platforms (relational, dimensional, and NoSQL) and tools (reporting, visualization, analytics, and machine learning).
• Gather and analyze information from a variety of sources to create business process and data models within the organization.
• Translate subject matter expert and stakeholder discussion into process flows, procedures, and data views.
• Serve as a modeling subject matter expert and point of contact to support functional and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure appropriate stakeholders are included in the development and revision of process models.
• Provide regular status updates to product and Enterprise stakeholders to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
• Identify and document instances where existing business processes may be streamlined or improved.
• Ability for abstract critical thinking, strong logical skills, and problem solving.
• Communicate and coordinate with business and application/solution teams to implement strategies, build data flows, and develop conceptual/logical/physical data models
• Hands-on development of modeling, design, configuration, and product release documentation.
• Work proactively and independently to address project requirements and articulate issues/challenges to reduce project delivery risks.

• Bachelor's degree in computer/data science technical or related experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years directly related work experience in Business Process Modeling and/or on relational, dimensional, and/or analytic data experience.
• Enterprise Architecture experience
• Good communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization.
• Strong business acumen and proven track record for providing innovative solutions resulting in increased business performance.
• Candidate will need to diagram the applications to help understand the connectivity. Candidate will need to be very strong with data flow diagrams.
• Facilitation Skills – must be able to work with a variety of stakeholders and gather information.
• Process Mapping- Able to translate discussion into process flows and process documentation.
• Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal.
• Prior experience as business analyst or business/systems architect a plus, along with any education level or certification you may require.
