HII – Technical Solutions Division is currently seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to work out of their Fort Meade, MD office.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Provide team leadership for a for large-scale IT program with the mission to unify software development with operational and infrastructure support.
  • Customer-facing operational support position that requires identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving both internal system problems, as well as external customer-related IT issues.
  • Extensive interaction and collaboration with multi-disciplined Integrated Product Teams and infrastructure system administrators.
  • Experience supporting fast-paced development programs with aggressive release cycles.
  • Technical expertise for incident response and the ability to triage problems to ensure continuous system operations.
  • Coordinate hardware acquisition planning; interface with data center services and various support organizations for installation, provisioning, integration, and acceptance.
  • Support software release planning and deployment installations; communicate important information about system maintenance, changes, events, and address concerns regarding any aspect of operational services.
  • Ability to quickly assess an issue and provide management with comprehensive long or short-term actions for restoration of service(s) required.
  • Must be able to prepare procedural documentation for troubleshooting, escalation procedures, standard operating procedures and service-level agreements.
  • Follows organizational practices in regard to Incident, Problem, and Change Management along with the creation of tracking records for monitoring and reporting.
  • Eventually implementing an on-call service support model requiring rotational and/or working alternate shifts.
  • Knowledge of agile software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration strategies and automated deployment approaches.
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, enterprise system monitoring tools, event messaging services, and NiagaraFiles ( NiFi ) technologies.


Minimum Qualifications
  • 20+ Years with Bachelors or 18+ Years with Masters or HS diploma with 25+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience as a Systems Engineer performing and providing technical direction for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration and testing of complex hardware/software systems to include requirements elicitation, analysis and functional allocation,
  • Conducting system requirements reviews
  • Developing concepts of operation and interface standards
  • Developing system architectures
  • Performing technical/nontechnical assessment and management as well as end-to-end flow analysis
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance with Polygraph

Preferred Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field is highly desired and will be considered equivalent to four (4) years' experience
