Summary:

Huntington Ingalls Industies - Technical Solutions Division is seeking a talented and experienced veteran to join our team at Shaw AFB, in South Carolina. Shaw Air Force Base ranks as one of the oldest installations in the Air Force. Shaw Air Force Base is named in honor of 1st Lt. Ervin D. Shaw, a Sumter County native, killed in action during World War I while on a long-range reconnaissance flight behind enemy lines. Today, Shaw Air Force Base is the home of the United States Air Force Central Command (USAFCENT) Headquarters, the 15th Air Force Headquarters and the 20th Fighter Wing, and is the largest combat F-16 fighting wing. The base community consists of more than 7,140 active duty military members, 14,000 family members and more than 730 civilian employees. AFCENT is the Air Force Service Component of United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), a joint Department of Defense combatant command responsible for U.S. security interests in 27 nations that stretch from the Horn of Africa through the Persian Gulf region, into Central Asia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and support the execution of migration strategies supporting ACC enterprise/base-level network, server consolidations, and network control centers.
  • Perform migration analysis to identify and resource gaps prior to execution within the command.
  • Conduct mission analysis of divestiture of capabilities associated with Air Force/ACC implementations in order to understand and baseline current mission requirements, capabilities and vulnerabilities.
  • Identify and coordinate migration of command functional community systems into the Global Information Grid (GIG). Provide coordination/tracking for decommissioning of legacy ACC networks, once resources have migrated to the GIG.
  • Perform problem resolution associated with network implementations with recommended mitigating strategies.
  • Perform analysis of critical structures, processes, policies, tools and products to ensure that they provide the appropriate technologies and functionalities.
  • Assist with development of, and support, quantitative and qualitative metrics.
  • Identify communication service requirements, system architectures and designs.
  • Perform analysis, design and create integration/ implementation plans with required documentation.
  • Analyze current and future virtualization environments at the server and client levels in support of network/server consolidation efforts.
  • Support command efforts to reduce/modernize infrastructure through Unified Communications (UC) implementations.
  • Research and analyze network and project implementation issues in Client Thin Client, virtual desktop and virtual server implementations.
  • Analyze and provide recommendations to A6, A6X and other DOD and AF agencies regarding emerging network related technologies.
  • Provide weekly updates of activity and status as requested; attend meetings to provide leadership situational awareness and recommendations through briefings.
  • Provide monthly activity and status reports.
  • Perform IT project management and action officer activities.
  • Perform IAO duties for Client, Thin Client, and virtual desktop implementations, virtual servers.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Five (5) years' experience demonstrating technical skills implementing Microsoft (MS) Active Directory and MS Exchange within the Air Force Enterprise environment and applying Information Assurance (IA) principles.
  • Three (3) years' experience demonstrating network planning and integration knowledge.
  • Three (3) years' experience with Thin Client.
  • Three (3) years' experience with numbered air force (NAF) or higher staff organizations and base-level network architecture, as well as technical experience working issues with AFSPC NetOps organizations.
  • Three (3) years' experience providing network system engineering and implementation expertise in the maintenance and modernization of network infrastructure.
  • Two (3) years' experience demonstrating project management skills at NAF or higher level staff organizations.
