The Manager of Production Planning and Scheduling will serve as the Production Manager for the San Diego Elevator Support Unit team providing onsite engineering systems technical support and service for maintenance, operation, repair, and testing of Aircraft Elevators, Weapons Elevators, and Vertical Package Conveyors onboard assigned US Naval Aircraft Carriers. Will be responsible for establishing and meeting production schedules, including quality and cost objectives, through assignment of personnel and provision of resources for all tasks.

What You Will Do
  • Plans, prepares, issues and controls production schedules and coordinates with material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production requirements.
  • Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
  • Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply and demands, prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements.
  • Coordinates interdepartmental activity with quality assurance, manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, inventory control, traffic, etc.; schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders.


What You Must Have
  • Experience in coordinating and supervising personnel effort in accomplishing either shipboard Aircraft Elevator, Weapons Elevator, Vertical Package Conveyor and/or Hull Mechanical & Electrical repairs.
  • Prior experience being closely involved with practical aircraft carrier, maintenance availability, procedures, work integration administration and maintenance scheduling.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as experience communicating with senior level Ship's Force and government personnel.
  • Must be able to assess and proactively address potential production and schedule issues.
  • Must be able to maintain base access and security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 3 years relevant progressive experience; 2 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years relevant progressive experience. This experience is in addition to the relevant years of experience listed with the job's education requirements. Example: If this job required a Bachelor's degree + 5 years relevant experience the equivalency would equal HS diploma + 9 years job related experience.

  • Preferred candidate will have at least seven (7) years US Naval HM&E engineering experience


Physical Requirements
May be required to visit job site in an industrial or shipboard environment. Normally not required to lift more than 40 pounds higher than three feet above feet/floor level.
