We have an exciting opportunity to join our Fleet Support Sustainment Division (FSS). The selected candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining and training customer personnel on facility industrial plant equiptment, Lathes, Milling Machines, horizontal and vertical band saws, drill presses, and sheet metal bending equiptment.

What You Will Do

  • Operate, maintain, train customer personnel on facility industrial plant equipment, Lathes, Milling Machines, horizontal and vertical band saws, drill presses, and sheet metal bending equipment
  • Read and interpret government and commercial drawings/blueprints to machine parts
  • Have good working experience and knowledge of basic calibrated hand tools, micrometers, Vernier calibers; dial indicators, tape measures, rulers, pressure gauges, plug and ring standards, and torque wrenches
  • Apply comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments
  • Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others.
  • Perform a variety of complicated and non routine tasks
  • Develop and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
  • Schedule, report and brief customers and senior management
  • Perform duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment

What You Must Have
  • Master understanding of production and processes.
  • Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. May provide direction and lead others.
  • May manage one or more multiple jobs.
  • Complete comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools. Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks.
  • Develop and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports.
  • Schedule, report and brief customers and senior management.
  • May perform quality inspections on finished product.
  • Perform duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment.


Bonus Points For Having!

HS education or Trade School + 6 years of related experience. Technical/professional certifications are a plus. Facility has required tools on hand, candidate can provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty
  • Must have electrical machinery repair experience.
  • Must have shipyard/navy experience or commercial equivalent.
  • Must be able to operate specialized repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, grinders, wash tank, and various handheld power and non-power tools.
  • Must be able to complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.


Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
