HII- Technical Solutions Division (TSD) is seeking individuals experienced with Naval (or other commercial ship) Propulsion and Auxiliary systems operation and/or test and troubleshooting for our HII Nuclear, Maritime Operations Team in Newport News, VA, supporting Newport News Shipbuilding.
Test Engineers in the Maritime Operations group support a wide variety of different functional areas at Newport News Shipyard (NNS). At NNS, HII builds the most advanced ships in the world, nuclear powered Aircraft Carriers and Submarines, and our engineers are integral in that effort. Test Engineers support the development of new technologies, the proper implementation of systems and components, and the help ensure safe operation of those systems and components throughout the intended lifespan. As part of the HII Nuclear Maritime Operations group, our engineers have access to a rare and unique professional development program that is intended to prepare our employees for life long success with our HII affiliates supporting different Department of Energy sites and contracts around the country

o Nuclear & Environmental Services, a business group within Huntington Ingalls Industries' Technical Solutions division, supports the national security mission of the Department of Energy (DOE) through the management and operation of its sites, as well as the safe cleanup of legacy waste across the country. What you will do:

• Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
• Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
• Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
• Use personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree and 2 years of relevant experience is required.

Demonstrated ability for system and component level testing as well as lock-out, tag-out and safe equipment operation is a must.
Candidate must have experience utilizing industry-current Engineering design and analytical or modeling software.
Candidate must have knowledge of nuclear and radiation safety principles.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Confidential level security clearance.

Physical Requirements
Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
