As the first point of contact, you will manage risk management-related inquiries from regulators, merchants, and colleagues. While these questions will land on your desk, you will work closely with our global risk management team. The team is centered in Amsterdam, with fellow regional risk officers situated in London, Dubai, and Singapore. All teams work alongside other regional second-line functions, such as Internal Control, Compliance and Regulatory.

We are seeking a versatile risk professional with hands-on experience in Operational Risk Management (ORM) who is eager to grow within a dynamic, fast-paced tech environment. A background in technology, financial services, or consulting is considered an asset. You possess a firm grasp of risk assessments and frameworks, the risk cycle, and risk taxonomies, and you are comfortable taking direct ownership. Adyen's flat organizational structure offers a steep learning curve and the chance to drive a variety of risk management initiatives.

What you’ll do:

  • Be the lead representative for risk management throughout the North America region
  • Be an integral part of the global second-line Enterprise Risk team, managing risks in an efficient manner while staying within our risk appetite
  • Support with enhancing, further building and advocating our global Operational Risk Framework across Adyen, and be one of its key sources of knowledge
  • Work closely with first-line teams to offer actionable advice and suggestions for strengthening risk management, incorporate essential risk factors into new project and product development, and advocate for the ongoing refinement of policies, procedures, and processes
  • Collaborate with Internal Control and additional second-line functions (such as Regulatory and Compliance) across diverse regions and cultures
  • Guarantee the implementation of suitable risk strategies throughout Adyen, encourage the use of established policies and tools, and work together to maintain and enhance the overall risk and control environment
  • Be an ambassador of the Adyen Formula

Who you are:

  • You possess a proactive, energetic mindset and are a lifelong learner
  • You have a hands-on mentality and actively engage with challenges
  • You have relevant professional experience (6 or more years) in Risk Management, in a second-line capacity (internal or consulting) at a financial institution, tech company or large corporation

You hold a strong understanding of the various components that form a robust ORM framework, enabling you to quickly identify improvement areas

  • You know and understand the relevant global and local regulations, and regulators
  • You have experience with managing projects, ensuring initiatives stay on track and deliver measurable outcomes
  • You leverage great communication skills to build consensus, manage stakeholders and drive adoption of risk best practices across different teams
  • You welcome teamwork and are not blocked by ego
  • You can communicate your interest in payments and fintech (experience is not required), recognizing the unique risks and opportunities within this sector
