Switching To Software
Although Peter graduated with degrees in mechanical engineering, it was his problem-solving skills that served him well at Facebook when he became a software engineer. His experience with artificial intelligence, participation in Facebook Hackathons, and on-the-job peer mentorships exposed him to the software world—and his technical drive made his switch from mechanical to software engineering an easy transition.

What Peter Does
Software Engineer, Facebook
Each morning, Peter checks his task list, reviews engineer coding, updates failing tests and workloads, and plans out new Facebook products during the morning Stand-Up Meeting—gathering useful feedback from fellow engineers. Doing heavy coding most of the day, Peter monitors functionality of features, enlarges system scope, and integrates designs with colleagues to keep products synced and sophisticated.
