Dedicated To Design
Caitlin knew she wanted to study product design at Stanford, and she was excited to pursue a multidisciplinary degree in mechanical engineering, studio work, psychology, and human level factors design. Caitlin used the engineering design skills honed earlier in her career on Internet.org—the Facebook infrastructure group spearheading laser Internet beaming—before she was asked to head Oculus product design engineering following its acquisition by Facebook.

On mornings, Caitlin can be found either in the Menlo Park office at 10 AM or possibly boarding a 6 AM flight to meet with her Seattle team. Caitlin typically spends her day collaborating with interdisciplinary teams at Menlo Park, working in one-on-one sessions with her team, and reviewing engineering designs as she oversees the progress of Oculus’ latest products.

“I’m so excited that Oculus is part of Facebook. Facebook understands human connectivity to such a deep degree—and we’ve got the hardware that's also going to make social stronger. That’s a really incredible combo.”
