Vanguard's Financial Advisor Services (FAS) division is dedicated to serving 27 million investors who work with a financial advisor. FAS provides investment products and services to a diverse B2B client base that includes broker-dealers, registered investment advisors (RIAs), banks, asset managers, and insurance companies. We are seeking a bold, visionary, and execution-focused technology leader to drive transformation across our FAS Technology division. As the fastest-growing business at Vanguard, FAS is at the forefront of delivering innovative, scalable, and client-centric technology solutions to financial advisors. Reporting to Lauren Wilkinson, Divisional Chief Information Officer for FAS, you will work closely with senior leaders across the business. This role is ideal for a leader of leaders who thrives in complexity, inspires high-performing teams, and translates strategic vision into tangible outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and implement a long-term technology vision that aligns with FAS's growth trajectory and client needs. Champion innovation and modernization across platforms, architecture, and delivery models.
- Organizational Transformation: Lead a global organization of 100+ engineers through cultural and operational change. Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and resilient engineering culture that embraces agility, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
- Business Partnership: Collaborate closely with product, business, and enterprise stakeholders to shape and deliver technology that drives business value. Serve as a trusted advisor who bridges technical depth with business acumen.
- Talent Development: Build and mentor a strong leadership bench. Cultivate future-ready talent through coaching, succession planning, and a focus on diversity and inclusion.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure delivery of high-quality, secure, and scalable technology solutions. Optimize resource allocation, manage budgets, and uphold service-level commitments.
- Innovation Enablement: Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, cloud-native architectures, and data-driven decision-making. Encourage bold thinking and breakthrough solutions that elevate client experiences.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, including leading large-scale transformations.
- Experience delivering client-facing digital solutions for financial services. Experience with digital selling / digital marketing, portfolio construction, and advisor technology highly preferred.
- Financial/investment acumen and experience required, with strong understanding of financial advice, portfolio construction, and fixed income
- Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and influence across complex matrixed environments.
- Strong technical foundation with fluency in modern cloud, data, and software engineering practices.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated success in building inclusive, high-performing teams.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
