About the Role

The Offers Platform team builds the foundational systems that power all promotions and offer constructs across Uber Eats, enabling high-scale, low-latency decisioning for millions of users worldwide. As a Senior Software Engineer (L5), you will design and evolve core platform services that maximize reliability, performance, and developer velocity. Your work will directly influence how promotions are created, applied, and delivered globally.

1. Design, build, and scale backend services that support offer creation, orchestration, and application across Uber Eats.
2. Improve reliability, latency, and system performance through thoughtful architecture and strong operational practices.
3. Collaborate with product, infra, and partner teams to define the technical roadmap and deliver high-impact features.
4. Lead complex technical initiatives and bring clarity to ambiguous problem spaces.
5. Support on-call rotations, improve observability, and ensure the platform meets stringent SLAs.

1. 6+ years of backend engineering experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems.
2. Strong understanding of system design, data modeling, and principles of scalability, latency, and availability.
3. Demonstrated experience building and running production services with robust observability and operational excellence.

1. Experience building platform-level systems, frameworks, or services used by multiple product teams.
2. Strong expertise in performance optimization, caching strategies, event-driven architectures, or high-QPS systems.
3. Experience driving cross-team architectural initiatives and influencing long-term technical direction.
4. Ability to mentor other engineers and contribute to high-quality engineering culture.
