Senior Software Engineer, Ads Backend - USDS

Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, deployment and optimization of highly available, low-latency, and high-QPS distributed systems for core data ingestion, enrichment and ads delivery components. This spans upstream data pipelines (e.g., real-time signal ingestion, identity matching, ad attribution, and large-scale training data generation) to downstream serving components (catalog management, ads retrieval, ranking, and delivery). Ensure strict data consistency, latency guarantees, and clear SLA across all stages.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, setting high standards for code quality and system architecture, and ensuring project execution aligns with product goals.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
- 4+ years of professional experience in software development, focusing on large-scale distributed systems, high-throughput backend services, or low-latency infrastructure.
- Deep expertise in system architecture and experience with microservices, asynchronous programming, and fault-tolerant design.
- Proficiency in Python and fluency in at least one systems-level programming language (e.g., Go, C++).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of driving impact within a closely integrated product and engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep expertise in the Ads domain.
- Solid data analysis capabilities to investigate complex data or system problems amidst ambiguity
- Experience in leading a team or major technical initiatives

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $177688 - $341734 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
