- A global technology organization collaborating across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia
- Opportunities to define modernization patterns that reshape the foundation of TJX's enterprise systems
- A collaborative environment where your architectural decisions influence multiple engineering domains
Our Organization:
As the Senior Staff Engineer - StoreWeb Modernization, you are the most senior hands‑on technical leader within the Back‑of‑Stores Engineering organization. You will define modernization architectures, drive evolutionary design, and author enterprise reference patterns for transforming the StoreWeb platform into a secure, resilient, Azure‑native ecosystem. You serve as the top technical authority guiding platform‑wide decision‑making, modernization sequencing, data‑migration choreography, and reliability best practices. While this role carries no direct reports, your influence spans engineering teams, architects, platform engineers, and executive stakeholders.
What you will do
- Define target architecture, modernization blueprints, and Strangler‑Fig sequencing for StoreWeb transformation.
- Publish reference architectures, ADRs, service templates, modernization guardrails, and telemetry‑by‑default standards.
- Architect API‑first modernization patterns including APIM‑centric routing, contract governance, and versioning strategies.
- Establish non‑functional standards covering resiliency patterns (timeouts, retries, circuit breakers), idempotency, and reliability SLIs/SLOs.
- Lead architectural reviews, threat modeling, performance‑scalability assessments, and systemic risk identification.
- Define data‑migration patterns (CDC, dual‑write, reconciliation, cutover choreography) and guide domain‑extraction strategy.
- Act as the primary technical unblocker-deep diving into code, runtime issues, CI/CD, IaC, or architecture to accelerate momentum.
- Drive engineering excellence across secure coding, automated testing, observability, CI/CD governance, and IaC consistency.
- Influence modernization strategy across partner teams including security, networking, store operations, and platform engineering.
- Mentor senior engineers across India and the U.S., elevating architectural decision‑making and technical maturity.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years software‑engineering experience with 3+ years in principal/staff engineering roles.
- Deep expertise across Azure services: APIM, App Services/AKS, Functions, Service Bus/Event Grid, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB.
- Strong grounding in security and identity (OAuth2, JWT, Entra ID).
- Hands‑on experience delivering cloud‑native, resilient, observable systems using modern CI/CD and IaC (Bicep/Terraform).
- Proven experience driving large‑scale modernization or Strangler‑Fig migrations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with retail/store systems, edge computing, or offline‑first architectures.
- Expertise with OpenTelemetry, KQL, App Insights, and performance or capacity modeling.
- Familiarity with SLO‑based operations, error budgets, and production‑readiness practices.
