Director, Leadership Communications and Engagement
Position Summary
The Director, Leadership Communications and Engagement serves as a strategic communications partner to the JKOU, with primary support responsibility for the Operating Unit President (OUP) and Operating Unit Leadership Team (OULT).
This role is responsible for strengthening leadership communication, organizational alignment, stakeholder engagement, and employer brand reputation across internal and external audiences. The position designs and orchestrates leadership communications that are culturally relevant to Japan while aligned with global expectations and standards.
The role also partners closely with P&C and senior leadership to enhance Coca-Cola Japan's attractiveness as an employer of choice in an increasingly competitive talent market.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership Communication (Internal)
- Design, develop, and review leadership communications to ensure clarity, consistency, and cultural relevance within the Japanese organizational context
- Serve as the primary communications partner to the OUP while supporting broader leadership alignment across the Operating Unit Leadership Team (OULT)
- Plan and deliver regular leadership messages through internal communication platforms to foster employee engagement and organizational transparency
- Develop tailored talking points and communication guidance for OULT members to reinforce strategic priorities consistently across functions
- Draft and structure speeches, remarks, messaging, and communication materials for town halls, All Hands meetings, leadership forums, media engagements, and video communications
- Advise senior leadership on meeting agenda, communication priorities, narrative sequencing, and audience engagement strategies for key organizational forums and leadership events
- Design communication strategies for key business milestones, organizational changes, transformation initiatives, and strategic announcements
- Monitor and analyze employee and stakeholder sentiment, providing qualitative insights and actionable recommendations to leadership
Leadership Communication (External)
- Design and execute strategic OUP communication and stakeholder engagement plans aligned with business priorities and reputation objectives in Japan
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key Japanese media and external stakeholders
- Prepare leadership teams for interviews, public engagements, and high-profile stakeholder interactions through message development and briefing materials
- Develop leadership narratives that balance local Japanese context with global corporate messaging
- Partner with Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and HR teams to strengthen corporate reputation and organizational trust in Japan
Leadership Visibility for Employer Brand
- Partner with P&C and leadership teams to strengthen Coca-Cola Japan's employer brand and employee value proposition in the Japanese market
- Develop strategic leadership narratives and communication initiatives that enhance the company's attractiveness to current and prospective talent
- Support leadership visibility initiatives that reinforce company culture, purpose, and organizational values internally and externally
- Identify opportunities to position Coca-Cola Japan as an employer of choice through leadership storytelling, strategic communications, and external engagement

Global & System Communication Enablement
- Support global and bottler-driven requests involving executive communications, video messages, interviews, and written materials
- Translate Japanese market dynamics, organizational context, and leadership insights into clear, executive-ready communications for global stakeholders
- Ensure alignment and message integrity across Japan, global headquarters, and the bottler system
Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in executive communications, corporate communications, employer branding, public affairs, or related fields
- Proven experience supporting senior executives and cross-functional leadership teams, preferably in multinational environments
- Deep understanding of Japanese corporate culture, media landscape, talent market dynamics, and stakeholder expectations
- Experience in employer branding, talent communications, or organizational engagement initiatives is highly preferred
- Native-level Japanese and business-fluent English required
- Exceptional writing, editing, and message structuring skills across multiple formats and channels
- Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to operate effectively in high-visibility and confidential environments
