Job Description:

The Associate Vice President, Commercial Services & Professional Services Category Lead, is a senior enterprise leader within Enterprise Programs, Strategy & Support (EPSS), with end-to-end accountability for the enterprise Professional Services / Management Consulting category and for the delivery of Commercial Services across TD.

This role is responsible for setting the strategic direction, governance model, and operating approach for Professional Services, including vendor strategy, demand management, rate and SOW governance, sourcing approach, and performance outcomes. In parallel, the AVP oversees enterprise Commercial Services delivery, including contracting services and buying enablement, ensuring consistent standards, improved cycle times, strong controls, and a simplified experience for business partners.

The role plays a critical part in executing TD's priorities, including accelerated automation, AI-enabled insights, stronger regulatory-aligned controls, and optimization of Professional Services spend.

Depth & Scope

  • Provides people leadership by hiring, developing, and retaining top talent; setting goals; managing performance and compensation; fostering collaboration; and addressing employee relations matters as required.
  • Owns the end-to-end enterprise category strategy for Professional Services / Management Consulting, including demand shaping, vendor segmentation, sourcing strategy, rate architecture, SOW standards, governance, and performance management.
  • Accountable for defining, executing, and continuously refining the enterprise Professional Services category strategy, aligned to TD's business priorities, transformation agenda, and financial discipline objectives.
  • Leads the Commercial Services function, providing enterprise contracting services, buying enablement, and operational support across multiple lines of business.
  • Oversees contracting operations, including SOW drafting, quality assurance, rate card application, negotiation support, and adherence to enterprise standards and playbooks.
  • Establishes and enforces enterprise SOW standards and rate governance to improve first-time-right outcomes, reduce rework, and accelerate cycle times.
  • Provides senior advisory support to business and functional executives on Professional Services engagements, sourcing approaches, commercial terms, and vendor selection.
  • Leads vendor strategy for Professional Services, including enterprise panels, vendor rationalization, performance management, and market benchmarking.
  • Partners closely with Finance to track consulting spend, rate compliance, value realization, and leakage reduction.
  • Drives improvements in buying experience through guided buying models, clear intake paths, and standardized commercial processes.
  • Partners with Risk, Legal, and Control functions to ensure Professional Services engagements align with Third Party Risk Management (TPRM), regulatory requirements, and internal control frameworks.
  • Oversees the transition and scaling of Commercial Services delivery, including workload segmentation, capability development, performance management, and service quality oversight.
  • Supports the VP, EPSS in delivering the target operating model, including process standardization, automation, and enterprise governance.
  • Owns performance management for Commercial Services and Professional Services, including KPIs, SLAs, cycle-time metrics, user experience measures, and cost optimization outcomes.
  • Leads change management initiatives related to Professional Services strategy, contracting standards, and buying enablement.
  • Impacts stakeholders across multiple lines of business, managing complex and high-visibility commercial relationships with significant enterprise, financial, and risk implications.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Law, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, commercial services, or category management within a large, complex organization.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and leading enterprise category strategies, preferably for Professional Services, Management Consulting, or other high-value services portfolios.
  • Proven track record of setting and executing category strategy, including vendor strategy, rate governance, sourcing approaches, and performance management.
  • Strong expertise in contract negotiation, SOW governance, and commercial risk mitigation.
  • Experience operating in regulated environments with a solid understanding of third-party risk, controls, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience scaling or managing various delivery models
  • Strong financial acumen, including cost optimization, value tracking, and performance reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex change initiatives and operate effectively in matrixed environments.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and engage credibly at the executive level.
  • Experience partnering closely with Finance, Risk, Legal, Technology, and senior business stakeholders.
