Job Description

SP Industries is recruiting for a Spare Parts Technician based in Ipswich.

This is a key position within the business. Your place of work will be 100% factory-based at the Ipswich facility under normal conditions. There may be occasional requirements to accompany a field service engineer in the field or at a depot repair centre to provide support.

The Spare Parts Technician will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and kitting of spare parts to support service operations and customer demand. The individual will also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as Kanban management and optimization of work instructions.

Key tasks

• Spare parts assembly and testing of mechanical and electrical sub-systems (including some legacy spare parts creation).
• Ensure all spare part assemblies meet quality and safety standards.
• Kitting of spare parts in line with customer and service team requirements.
• Maintain accurate records in compliance with QMS ISO 9001 standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities, such as Kanban management and work instruction optimization.
• Support field or depot service teams when required (occasional).
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and 5S practices in the spare parts and assembly areas.
• Provide feedback on spare parts assembly, testing processes, and improvement opportunities.
• Work flexibly across related tasks to ensure service commitments are met.

• Mechanical aptitude with strong practical skills.
• Quality awareness and diligence.
• Computer literate and able to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to work with data, records, and inventory systems.
• Collaborator with effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Flexible approach with the ability to multi-task and adapt.

Ideal Experience:

(These are not essential as relevant experience will be considered)
• Experience in mechanical or electrical assembly in a light engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Experience with spare parts kitting or inventory management.
• Lean manufacturing / continuous improvement exposure.
• Manual handling experience.
• Basic understanding of Health & Safety at work.
• Ability to read engineering drawings (desirable).

Ideal Qualifications:

HND (or higher) in mechanical / electrical applications, principles, and practices
Manual lifting course
