Join our dynamic team as a Senior Software Development Engineer and be at the forefront of creating innovative solutions that shape the future of technology!

What will you do:

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to design and implement IoT data connectors that power the ingestion and transformation workflows for our EcoStruxure Building Data Platform (BDP) and Connector Hosting Solution.

This role focuses on building ETL‑style pipelines that collect, clean, normalize, and deliver IoT telemetry from diverse devices and building systems.

You will contribute to connector architecture; help maintain core ingestion pipelines and ensure reliable and secure data handling across edge‑to‑cloud flows.

This position is ideal for an engineer with strong IoT data integration experience who is ready to grow into larger ownership over time.

Key Responsibilities:

IoT Data Connector Development

  • Implement, enhance, and maintain IoT data connectors for collecting, processing, and transforming device and system data.
  • Develop components that support ETL‑style workflows including data collection, cleaning, mapping, and structured ingestion into EcoStruxure Building Data Platform.
  • Ensure data is received, transformed, and stored efficiently for downstream use by analytics and platform services.

IoT Systems Integration
  • Integrate sensors, controllers, and IoT systems into cloud ingestion workflows in collaboration with senior engineers.
  • Implement and maintain data models and structures that enable interoperability across diverse IoT systems.

Event‑Driven & Cloud‑Native Engineering
  • Participate in building event-driven connector services using cloud-native patterns and messaging/streaming systems.
  • Contribute to cloud-based ingestion applications and assist in deploying connector workloads.

Security & Data Protection
  • Apply secure data-handling practices including encryption, authenticated communications, and privacy‑focused data processing.
  • Support implementation of IoT network and data‑security measures aligned to platform standards.

Testing & Quality
  • Work with QA and Senior Software Engineer roles to validate connector functionality, data quality, and ETL correctness.
  • Assist in debugging data-flow issues, protocol misbehavior, and multi‑system integration challenges.

Collaboration
  • Collaborate with product managers, and senior engineers to understand requirements and deliver connector enhancements.
  • Participate in code reviews, documentation, and cross-team technical discussions.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on work with IoT, ETL, or distributed data systems.
  • Experience developing IoT data pipelines involving data ingestion, transformation, and integration.
  • Proficiency with programming languages used in connector development (C# .NET).
  • Familiarity with IoT communication protocols such as MQTT, BACnet, Modbus, OPC UA, or REST
  • Understanding of distributed systems, messaging patterns, and data‑flow architectures.
  • Working knowledge of IoT security fundamentals including data protection and secure communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with building automation or industrial systems data ingestion.
  • Familiarity with semantic modeling frameworks such as Brick or Haystack.
  • Background in solving cross-protocol integration or edge‑to‑cloud data flow challenges.

Impact of the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer I, you will help build the core ingestion capabilities that power BDP's data ecosystem. Your work will ensure accurate, secure, and scalable connector pipelines that enable advanced building analytics, digital twins, and operational insights.
