The Opportunity
Joining our growing Power Systems team as a Senior Protection Engineer, you will be based in Sydney as a key member of our Digital Power Application Center. Working with a close-knit team of passionate technical professionals, you will leverage your background and take your career to the next level as you play a central role in protection schemes, relay configuration and key commissioning activities across various platforms and protocols.

This exciting new career opportunity will see you:
- Design, implement, and test protection schemes for electrical power systems
- Utilise your technical experience to configure and test protection relays
- Read and interpret schematic and wiring diagrams and adhere to relevant standards and other internal processes
- Conduct site visits for requirements assessment, relay testing, and commissioning support.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and other internal stakeholders in meeting technical standards and adhering to project goals and customer requirements
- Reporting and other data analytics within an organisation focused on an expanding suite of digital
- offers and related infrastructure
- Support in developing and mastering technologies like cybersecurity, digital twins and other emerging technologies within an organisation focused on Mastery
- Interpret and apply IEC 61850 standards and legacy protocols such as Modbus, DNP3 etc.
- Perform relay testing and commissioning using Omicron test equipment, including modules such as Overcurrent, Transformer Differential etc.
Our ideal candidate will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering and previous experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience in Protection is essential, including protection schemes, relay configuration and commissioning activities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confident in Customer engagement
- Strong problem-solving skills, an analytical approach and project management capabilities
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, while managing multiple tasks
- Those with relay configuration or testing experience will be viewed favourably, as will those with a background in SCADA integration or automation systems
- Knowledge of other makes of protection relays such as SEL, ABB, Siemens, GE, etc. is advantageous.
