Senior Engineer I, Mechanical Systems Design

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in electromechanical and switchgear product development. The incumbent will be responsible for designing, developing, validating, and improving low-voltage power distribution and switchgear products while ensuring compliance with global standards, quality requirements, cost targets, and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electromechanical products, switchgear assemblies, and related subsystems.
- Drive New Product Development (NPD) and Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives.
- Develop innovative design solutions and implement new product features based on business and customer requirements.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings, 3D models, Bills of Materials (BOM), and design documentation.
- Perform mechanical design calculations and validate designs to ensure compliance with product requirements.
- Ensure products comply with applicable global standards such as UL, IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and ASME.
- Apply GD&T principles and engineering best practices during product development.
- Utilize engineering judgment to evaluate product performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, testing, and certification impacts.
- Support product testing, validation activities, and certification processes.
- Participate in cross-functional product development projects through all stages of the product lifecycle.
- Identify technical risks, communicate them proactively, and implement mitigation plans.
- Provide timely project status updates and collaborate with stakeholders to meet project objectives.
- Participate in internal and customer design reviews.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and productivity improvements.
- Drive Lean Engineering practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Generate VAVE proposals to improve product performance, quality, manufacturability, and cost competitiveness.
- Contribute innovative concepts and ideas for system and subsystem enhancement.
- Work effectively with global engineering teams, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, testing, and product management functions.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve engineering deliverables and customer value.
- Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills in a multicultural and virtual work environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 7-9 years of experience in electromechanical product design and development.
- Proven experience in New Product Development (NPD) and/or VAVE projects.
- Experience in low-voltage power distribution products and switchgear systems preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with low-voltage distribution products and systems, preferably:
- Transfer Switches,
- Changeover Switches
- Isolators
- Circuit Breakers
- Busbar Systems
- Enclosure Design
- Understanding of electrical circuits and electromechanical system integration.
- Knowledge of switchgear testing, validation, and certification requirements.
Engineering Tools
- Proficient in:
- Creo (3D Modeling)
- AutoCAD
- Windchill / PDM Systems
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and documentation control.
