Quality Engineering Supervisor

The Quality Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing all quality engineering and quality control activities across multiple production lines. This role ensures that all products and processes meet company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. The supervisor leads a team of quality engineers and quality staff, promotes a culture of continuous improvement, and ensures the implementation of effective quality procedures. This position also drives corrective and preventive actions and strengthens overall product and process reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of quality engineers and quality support staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development planning.
- Promote accountability, collaboration, and high performance within the team.
Quality Oversight
- Ensure all products and processes comply with engineering specifications, quality management system requirements, and relevant standards.
- Monitor production quality metrics to identify, prevent, and resolve nonconformances.
- Provide technical guidance to support effective quality controls throughout the manufacturing process.
Process Improvement
- Participate in root cause analysis to address quality issues.
- Lead the implementation of corrective and preventive action plans.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and enhance product quality.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, engineering, operations, and supplier teams to resolve quality concerns.
- Support process optimization efforts and contribute to new product introduction activities.
- Build strong internal partnerships to ensure alignment on quality objectives.
Compliance and Documentation
- Maintain accurate and complete quality records, audit findings, and process documentation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and industry standards, including all company protocols.
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits.
Safety and Procedure Enforcement
- Enforce all standard operating procedures and workplace safety guidelines.
- Promote a safe and compliant manufacturing environment.
- Ensure quality procedures are followed consistently at all stages of production.
What will make you successful for this position:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related is required.
- Typically six to nine years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a regulated manufacturing setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards, Six Sigma methodologies, and Lean Manufacturing principles is beneficial.
- Additional relevant professional certifications are a plus.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality procedures.
- Proficiency with inspection tools and quality methodologies such as Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Production Part Approval Process, Statistical Process Control, and general quality management systems.
- Familiarity with quality auditing and documentation requirements.
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and team‑building skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
Essential Skills
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities to support process improvements and corrective action development.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools, quality metrics, and reporting systems.
- Hands‑on experience within manufacturing operations, with the ability to provide shop‑floor support.
- Knowledge of regulatory and industry compliance standards and the ability to lead audit activities.
- Ability to build and maintain a culture focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
