Power Generation Business Development Leader
Position Summary:
The Business Development Leader - Power Generation is responsible for driving growth in the power generation segment. This includes fossil (natural-gas) and renewable (solar, wind, hydro, biomass) generation. This role will focus on identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities with EPCs (Engineering, Procurement & Construction firms), end-user power generation companies, and new market entrants investing in U.S. power generation. The Leader will leverage deep industry knowledge and relationships to advance deals, position Schneider Electric's automation and digital solutions, and support the company's strategic objectives in the rapidly evolving power generation market.
What will you do?
Market Development & Opportunity Identification
- Identify and target greenfield / brownfield modernization natural gas combined cycle project opportunities in key U.S. regions (Southwest, Midwest, Southeast).
- Identify and target greenfield renewable project opportunities in key U.S. regions (Southwest, Midwest, Southeast).
- Build and nurture relationships with EPCs, utilities, independent power producers (IPPs), and new investors entering the power generation segment.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to position Schneider Electric as a partner of choice for new build projects.
- Monitor market trends, policy drivers, and project pipelines to proactively engage with stakeholders early in the project lifecycle.
- Articulate the value proposition of Schneider Electric's automation, safety, and digital solutions (including Foxboro, Triconex, AVEVA) for combined cycle power plants.
- Lead customer engagements, presentations, and workshops to demonstrate technical and business benefits.
- Collaborate with technical and proposal teams to scope solutions, develop proposals, and support bid processes.
- Drive business development efforts for targeted greenfield project pursuits, ensuring alignment with customer needs and market trends.
- Establish and deepen executive-level relationships with top EPCs (e.g., Kiewit, Sargent & Lundy, Burns & McDonnell) and utilities (e.g., Entergy, Vistra, Xcel).
- Engage with new market entrants and investors to understand their business drivers and position Schneider Electric's solutions.
- Represent Schneider Electric at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings to build brand awareness and market presence.

- Track pipeline, forecast sales, and report on key metrics to management.
- Provide market intelligence and feedback to product management and marketing teams.
- Support the development and execution of business cases for strategic initiatives in power generation.
Location and travel: Flexible, preference for Southwest, Midwest, Southeast USA. Willingness to travel up to 50% as needed.

What qualifications will make you successful?
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 10+ years in power generation, industrial automation, business development, or technical sales.
- 5+ years' experience in engineering, project management, or operations within the power generation segment, with a focus on natural gas and combined cycle projects.
- Direct experience working with or selling to EPCs, utilities, and IPPs.
- Familiarity with Schneider Electric's automation and digital solutions is a plus.
- Exposure to business development in the North American power generation market.
- Ability to convert strategies into implemented business solutions driving sales and revenue.
- Knowledge of key verticals (power generation, utilities, EPCs, new market entrants).
- Experience in owner/operator or EPC environment in project development, engineering, or operations.
- Strong understanding of combined cycle power plant operations.
- Experience with greenfield project development, scoping, and execution.
- Ability to compare and position Schneider Electric solutions against competitors.
- Knowledge of project financing, risk management, and commercial structuring for large capital projects.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to develop rapport and credibility with C-level executives and technical stakeholders.
