Manufacturing Engineering Intern

Join Motivair as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern and play a crucial role in developing and improving products and manufacturing processes. You'll design and conduct experiments on product, fabrication, assembly, tooling, materials, and lean manufacturing principles. Your work will involve collaborating with equipment vendors, operators, and quality engineers. The ideal candidate will work full-time starting June 2026 and continue part time in the fall.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the design team to optimize current and new products for manufacturability, quality, functionality, cost, production efficiency, and service.
  • Use data-driven information to identify areas for improvement in manufacturing operations, including:
    • workflow planning
    • space and personnel requirements
    • equipment layout
    • time studies
    • first-time-through performance
    • scrap percentage
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of new production lines.
  • Create and publish work instructions and use to train production personnel

For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $22.00 - $27.00 per hour. In addition, this position is eligible for overtime pay and may also include premium pay or differentials,
depending on location.

The compensation rate for this position is for candidates located within the United States. Individual pay is determined by several factors including knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Position Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree or higher.
  • Concentration in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
  • Completion of sophomore year required
  • Currently local to Buffalo, NY and can work on-site for Summer 2026
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, ongoing basis. The company does not provide immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in using data and statistics to improve processes.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude.

Physical Requirements/Abilities:
  • Regularly sit, stand, talk, hear and use hands
  • Occasionally walk, climb, stoop, or bend and lift up to 25 pounds.
