Roles
The Senior Product Application Engineer (Power Quality & Electrical Digital Twin) is responsible for leading presales activities and providing technical support to the South Korea sales organization, partners, consultants, and customers.
- The role serves as the country subject matter expert for Power Quality solutions, Electrical Digital Twin (eDT), and related Digital Power solutions. The individual will support opportunity development, solution positioning, technical proposal preparation, partner enablement, and customer engagement to drive business growth and improve win rates.
- The role will work closely with the Digital Energy Application Center (DEAC), Services Team and EcoXpert partners, to develop, position, and deliver end-to-end solutions that improve electrical system reliability, resilience, operational safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Presales Support & Opportunity Development
- Support South Korea sales teams in identifying, qualifying, and developing Power Quality and Electrical Digital Twin (eDT) opportunities.
- Provide technical support throughout the sales cycle, from opportunity qualification to project award.
- Conduct customer presentations, workshops, demonstrations, and technical discussions.
- Work closely with account managers, consultants, EPCs, system integrators, and end users to understand customer requirements and develop suitable solutions.
- Support tender reviews, bid clarification meetings, technical compliance assessments, and proposal development.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Solution Design & Architecture
- Develop solution architectures and technical proposals for:
- Power Quality Solutions: Active Harmonic Filters (AHF), Static VAR Generators (SVG), Power Factor Correction (PFC), and Dynamic Voltage Restorers (DVR).
- Electrical Digital Twin (eDT): ETAP-based offline and real-time digital twin solutions.
- Define customer use cases, business value propositions, and technical requirements.
- Support proof-of-concept activities, solution demonstrations, and technical validation.
Power Quality Solution Expertise
Serve as the subject matter expert for:
- Power quality assessment, mitigation, and optimization solutions.
- AHF, SVG, PFC, and DVR application engineering and sizing.
- Load analysis, harmonic studies, reactive power compensation, and power quality improvement initiatives.
- Compliance with applicable power quality standards and customer requirements.
- Power system troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and remediation recommendations.
Electrical Digital Twin (eDT) Expertise
Serve as the subject matter expert for ETAP-based offline and real-time eDT solutions.
Perform and support engineering studies including:
- Load flow analysis
- Short circuit studies
- Protection coordination studies
- Arc flash studies
- Harmonic analysis
- Contingency analysis
- Reliability assessments
- Scenario-based operational studies
Key responsibilities include:
- Building, validating, and maintaining electrical network models.
- Performing power system simulations and engineering analyses.
- Supporting digital twin deployment through model validation and system verification.
- Translating engineering results into actionable operational recommendations and business value for customers.
Partner, DEAC & Services Team Collaboration
- Act as the primary technical advisor for EcoXperts, system integrators, consultants, and partners in South Korea.
- Collaborate with the Digital Energy Application Center (DEAC) on solution architecture development, engineering studies, demonstrations, and proposal support.
- Work closely with the Services Team on project delivery planning, testing, commissioning strategies, and technical risk management.
- Support knowledge transfer across sales, presales, DEAC, services, and project execution teams.
- Deliver technical training, workshops, and mentoring programs.
- Develop application guides, reference architecture, engineering templates, and best practices.
Qualifications
Education
- Master's degree or higher in electrical engineering, electrical power engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
Working Experience
- +10 years of relevant experience in electrical power system analysis, design, or consulting.
- Experience preparing or interpreting single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, and protective device schedules.
- Exposure to at least one commercial power system analysis software platform (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, Siemens PSS SINCAL, NEPLAN, CYME, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with critical electrical systems such as data center, building, infrastructure, or industrial plant electrical systems.

Others (e.g. language skills, technical skills
- Fundamentals of low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems.
- Understanding of protection philosophies (overcurrent, differential, earth-fault) and protective device coordination principles.
- Working knowledge of applicable engineering standards including IEC 60909, IEEE 1584, NFPA 70E, IEEE 141/242/399, NEC/NFPA 70.
- Cable sizing per IEC 60287 and/or Neher-McGrath methods.
- Basic understanding of harmonics, motor starting behavior, and grounding grid design.
Professional Skills
- Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and strong technical documentation ability.
- Comfortable working in cross-functional teams with designers, project managers, and contractors.
- Clear written and verbal communication in English (additional Asian language capability is a plus given the East Asia project scope).
- Ability to travel to project sites for data collection and commissioning support.
