For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $75,000 - $95,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.
The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our Buffalo, NY area facilities. This position will ensure the facilities comply with all applicable Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements (e.g. State, Federal and Schneider-Electric). Detailed knowledge and practical application of environmental, health and safety regulations is required. The EHS Specialist will provide EHS support to our operations including engineering, warehousing and production.
This individual will be an integral part of the leadership team and will work closely with our operations to drive the necessary programs to ensure excellent overall results in environment, health, safety and sustainability.
It is envisioned that this individual will promote the importance of a strong environmental, health and safety culture by providing training and establishing/directing EHS programs. This individual must display good communication, planning, collaboration and leadership skills.

- Assist with the development, review and implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies, practices, guidelines, and procedures. Identify location-specific requirements for each area and participate in the development of related programs and policies.
- Assures employees and operations maintain compliance with safety and environmental programs, regulations and company policy; as well as support the review of any changes to laws and regulations that may impact the facility. Collaborate with regional Safety team to revise as necessary.
- Assist in developing training programs and conduct training to comply with regulatory and corporate EHS initiatives. Collaborate with regional Safety team to create training programs.
- Supervise the incident/accident investigation process including root cause analysis and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Organize and coordinate emergency response.
- Conduct environmental, health and safety inspections, audits and risk assessments. Participate in external EHS compliance audits and loss prevention audits.
- Coordinate the completion of all corrective actions with site personnel resulting from risk assessments, compliance audits or loss prevention audits.
- Liaise with facilities maintenance and property management personnel to ensure appropriate fire and life safety controls are in place and maintained.
- Oversee and implement permitting requirements for air, water, and land jurisdictional requirements as applicable.
- Perform job hazard analysis and ergonomic assessments to identify risk in our operations. Propose engineering solutions to eliminate risks. Ensure corrective actions are taken.
- Maintain required records, preparing reports and files as necessary to meet company and regulatory requirements.
- Track and evaluate KPI data trends, and provide input to management reviews, with a view to continuous improvement and enhancement of EHS performance.
- Serve as a site contact point for government inquiries relating to EHS.
Who will you report to?
You will report to the EHS Manager. This role is an onsite position. You are required to report to the Buffalo, NY facilities 5 days a week.
What qualifications and skills will make you successful for this role?
- Bachelor's degree in Environment, Health and Safety; or other relatable or equivalent degree preferred, but not required.
- 3+ years experience in safety & environmental role is a plus.
- Experience with ISO 14000 & OHSAS standards.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and NYSDEC regulations.
- Self-motivated, confident professional eager to contribute in a team-oriented, safety-focused environment.
- Committed to continuous improvement and proactive risk prevention.
- Serves as a safety, health, and environmental subject matter expert and mentor.
- Comfortable training large groups and promoting safety awareness.
- Experienced in accident investigation and hazard analysis.
- Strong project management skills with a focus on timely delivery.
- Effective communicator with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Skilled in leading within a matrixed organization and fostering accountability.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and multitasking abilities.
- Knowledgeable in EHS engineering practices and regulatory compliance.
- Capable of researching and applying industry best practices.
- Flexible scheduling availability as needed.
