Policy Communications Manager, Brazil (STE)

Meta is seeking an experienced Policy Communications Manager to join its Brazil Communications team. In this role, you will design, develop, and execute both proactive and reactive communications strategies on a broad range of business-critical, policy-related topics. You will play a key part in amplifying Meta's milestones and positions through compelling storytelling in the press and across social channels, shaping the conversation on major debates at the intersection of technology and public policy. Working closely with Meta's Policy, Legal and the Latin America Communications teams, you will be responsible for developing and executing clear and impactful communications for key policy initiatives, safety and security announcements, litigation and regulatory updates across Brazil. This is a Short-Term Employment (STE) of 10 months.

Policy Communications Manager, Brazil (STE) Responsibilities:

  • Manage proactive and reactive communications activities on relevant integrity topics
  • Manage the company's response to high profile issues in Brazil, including media strategy and message development, and internal escalation and reporting requirements
  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders but mainly with Public Policy, Legal and Business leaders, and also International Communications teams members, to manage media opportunities and broader programs
  • Counsel internal stakeholders on a broad set of communications matters ranging from media engagement strategy to crisis management
  • Distill complex policy concepts into plain language for press, policymakers, and the general public through a wide range of materials like blog posts, Q&As, briefing materials and talking points
  • Identify content-first and social opportunities and execute communications campaigns to support Meta's strategic objectives, linked to clear goals and metrics
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 8+ years professional experience leading media relations on issues-rich subject matter in Brazil
  • Proven project management and decision-making skills
  • Significant experience in devising and coordinating advocacy campaigns designed to change policy positions via the media
  • Experience working with and influencing leadership stakeholders across legal and public policy
  • Adept at using AI in day-to-day work
  • Sound news (and overall) judgement
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working in election cycles is considered an asset
