Job Summary
Are you ready to shape the future of data governance in one of the most dynamic healthcare organizations? As the Director of Data Governance, you will lead the strategy and execution of data governance across McKesson’s Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS). This pivotal role ensures that data becomes a trusted, strategic asset by driving stewardship, ownership, and compliance across multiple business segments.
You’ll oversee critical initiatives such as data classification, cataloging, quality, access, and usage—while collaborating with cross-functional teams including Business Leaders, Compliance, Legal, Product Management, and IT. This is a high-impact leadership role where your expertise will enable innovation, unlock data-driven insights, and influence enterprise-wide governance capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Governance Strategy: Drive PSaS’ data governance framework and operating model, ensuring alignment with enterprise policies, standards, and metrics.
Establish policies for AI agent usage, context handling, error escalation, human approvals.
Enable Stewardship & Ownership: Promote accountability and best practices for data stewardship across the organization.
Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day governance execution with McKesson and vendor partners.

Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with Product, Business, IT, Compliance, Legal, and Security teams to enforce data access controls and privacy standards while identifying new data opportunities.
Ensure Data Quality: Provide guidance to maintain accuracy, consistency, and usability of data assets.
Executive Engagement: Work closely with senior leadership, data engineering, and data science teams to integrate governance initiatives into enterprise strategies.
Manage Data Assets: Maintain and enhance the inventory and catalog of key data assets, addressing gaps and future needs.
Drive Continuous Improvement: Monitor governance health, report progress, and implement innovative solutions to improve effectiveness.
Stay Ahead of Trends: Remain current on industry best practices, tools, and regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
Basic Requirement- Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience.
Critical Skills & Experience
Proven track record in data governance and data management
8+ years in experience with data governance / data management
Experience working with market leading data governance tools (Alation) and versed in the emerging landscape of new tools
Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and data management principles.
Excellent ability to execute in a strongly matrix environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to drive data-driven decision-making
Preferred Skills
Experience in healthcare background preferred.
Understanding of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
Strong verbal and written communication with all levels of management.
Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S and Canada, now or in the future, without the support from McKesson.
