The Role

As a zLinux Systems Programmer, you will provide expert-level support for the underlying mainframe operating system platform and DBDC subsystem programming on which enterprise applications are developed and deployed. This role requires deep technical expertise, leadership in problem-solving, and a proactive approach to system optimization and risk management.

You will lead initiatives in automation, performance tuning, and modernization, while mentoring junior team members and collaborating across global teams to ensure business continuity and compliance with enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead administration, configuration, and optimization of zLinux/zVM systems on mainframe platforms.


  • Ensure system availability, patch compliance, and proactive risk mitigation.


  • Oversee integration of management tools and develop Linux shell scripts for automation.


  • Support mainframe technologies.


  • Drive initiatives for automation, monitoring, and performance tuning.


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and maintain business continuity.


  • Mentor and guide junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.


  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards.

Who You Are

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years in mainframe or zLinux system administration/support, with 3+ years in a senior or lead role.


  • Deep expertise in zLinux/zVM system management, patching, and performance optimization.


  • Advanced proficiency in Linux shell scripting and management tools.


  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.


  • English: Intermediate to advanced (required for global collaboration and documentation).

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.


  • Certifications in Linux, mainframe, or ITIL.
