Project Lead Engineer - Automation and Communication

The Opportunity

You'll be leading the technical engineering execution of Automation and Communication projects, acting as the Project Technical Lead Engineer for assigned projects. Translating customer requirements and contract specifications into a clear, cost-effective Hitachi Energy technical solution concept; planning and coordinating engineering tasks; review detailed engineering deliverables; support testing, FAT, installation, commissioning, SAT, as-built documentation and project close-out feedback. Ensuring that technical quality, safety, customer acceptance, cost, schedule, risk and contractual technical requirements are managed throughout the full project lifecycle.

How you'll make an impact

• Lead the technical execution of Automation and Communication projects from initiation to close-out.
• Act as the primary technical contact for customers and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinate engineering design activities and review project deliverables.
• Support testing, commissioning, site activities, and customer acceptance processes.
• Identify and manage technical risks, issues, changes, and open actions.
• Ensure accurate project documentation, handover, and lessons learned capture.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to project engineering teams.
• Promote continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and best practices.
• Champion safety, integrity, and compliance across all project activities.

• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification in electrical, automation, communication, power systems or a related field.
• Typically 10-15+ years of relevant project engineering experience, preferably in power, automation, communication or infrastructure projects.
• Good understanding of project execution, customer requirements, engineering coordination, testing support and site support.
• Ability to review technical documents, ask the right questions, coordinate with stakeholders and drive actions to closure.
• Strong communication, ownership, problem-solving and documentation skills.
• Good working knowledge of common office and collaboration tools. Training will be provided for company-specific tools, templates and in-house processes.
