HVDC Electromechanical Engineer
The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy's Grid Integration business is looking for a Mechanical Plant Design Engineer to support HVDC converter station projects through mechanical plant design, layout development, and technical coordination across project phases. In this role, you will work with 3D modelling, 2D drawings, mechanical interfaces, design documentation, and engineering estimates that help shape safe, reliable, and efficient converter station solutions. Your work will connect mechanical, civil, electrical, project, tender, supplier, contractor, and customer inputs into practical designs that meet project requirements for safety, quality, cost, and delivery. You will also help identify risks early, build HSE considerations into the design process, and support installation and commissioning activities when required. This is an opportunity to contribute to large-scale HVDC infrastructure projects that support grid reliability, energy transmission, and the continued modernization of the power system.
How You'll Make an Impact

- Apply established design practices, guidelines, and applicable standards for mechanical plant and electromechanical design, including onshore and offshore applications.
- Build HSE considerations and early risk identification into design solutions.
- Prepare and maintain drawings, layouts, bills of materials, engineering estimates, and related design documentation.
- Help ensure designs meet project requirements, timelines, budget, quality, and safety standards.
- Review and verify drawings and technical documentation for accuracy and alignment with project needs.
- Collaborate with civil, electrical, project, tender, customer, supplier, and contractor stakeholders across engineering and execution phases.
- Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases when required.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
