Title: Continuous Improvement Engineer

Location: Oswego, IL

Reports to: Process Improvement Manager

Purpose: Identify and implement manufacturing opportunities including productivity, capacity, and cost improvement through the lean and continuous improvement methodologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Co-Pilot the Griffith Production System (GPS) program implementation with Plant Management Team and ensure the health and progress of program through workshop facilitation, coaching, and assessments.
  • Comprehensively identify and understand site losses and cost-loss linkage and set up manufacturing database, for productivity, efficiency, capacity, quality, and safety. Work with site team to achieve loss elimination through GPS/Lean activities.
  • Lead and implement improvements initiatives through Lean methodology and technology to improve productivity, capacity, and/or quality where necessary.
  • Define and build critical capability for the site in different layers with 6-18 months outlook and play as major coach of site GPS capability building, build different layers of capability through daily problem-solving, and team activities (autonomous maintenance and preventive maintenance).
  • Coach and engage plant management team, pillar team and frontline associates on full involvement in continuous improvement activities, enhancing fully involvement culture of lean and GPS.
  • Facilitator on plant GPE management to achieve business target, opportunity identification, progress management and reporting.
  • Lead or co-pilot with project team to ensure successful implementation of sites digital project. Provide coaching and training to engage frontline associates fully participate in digital transformation.
  • Early involve in project design phase to embed lean design thinking mindset at the beginning stage for future expansion/Capital project.
  • Other tasks assigned by line manager.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or equivalent required.
  • Food industry experience preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or accredited Lean certification is required.
  • 5+ years of continuous improvement or Lean production management experience preferred.
  • Experience in at least in one or more of the following:
  • Lean principles such as Value Stream Mapping, Just-In-Time, Demand Flow, Single Piece Flow, 5S, 8 waste, Visual Management, Total Productive Maintenance, Continuous Improvement Process, Kaizen, SPC, Six Sigma and Communication Tools, Problem Solving, RCA.
  • MS computer skills (excel, word, power point and outlook) required.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with diverse groups of individuals and different levels.
  • TPM/Kaizen facilitation skills preferred.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10%.
  • No relocation assistance is offered, and the organization will not provide or support a Work Visa.
