RESPONSIBILITIES
About the Role
The AVP Cloud Infrastructure is a strategic technology leader and key influencer across organizational silos, responsible for establishing GM Financial's enterprise-wide cloud strategy, engineering, governing architecture foundations, and delivering business value through cloud transformation. Reporting to the Vice President of Cloud Solutions, you will educate the enterprise on evolutionary architecture and forward-thinking engineering practices, drive thought leadership, and mentor teams to ensure scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Establish and govern the enterprise-wide Cloud Strategy, including architecture foundations and framework governance.
- Influence and partner with peer IT leaders to translate business vision into technical solutions, balancing risk, investment needs, and fit-for-purpose design.
- Act as a change agent and advocate for new cloud technologies and methodologies, driving higher levels of agility, efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Lead the development and adoption of DevSecOps, automation toolsets, and infrastructure-as-code patterns for repeatability, scale, and efficiency.
- Define and monitor architecture and service metrics (SLAs, KPIs, SLOs), leveraging data to drive continuous process and product improvements.
- Manage budget for cloud infrastructure teams and related services, ensuring cost optimization and operational discipline.
- Supervise day-to-day operations of cloud engineering teams, fostering a customer-centric culture and world-class service delivery.
- Works closely with product development teams to ensure that Cloud practices are integrated into product architecture and operations.
- Drive mentorship programs, talent development, and recruitment efforts to build next-generation cloud capabilities within GM Financial.

QUALIFICATIONS
What makes you a dream candidate?
- Advanced knowledge of public and private cloud architectures (AWS, Azure) and security best practices for IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and hybrid solutions.
- Strong understanding of virtualization, network engineering concepts, and cloud-native security controls (WAF, IPS/IDS, CASB, encryption).
- Expertise in architectural domains: information, data, application, security, infrastructure, and integration.
- Hands-on experience with automation and orchestration tools, Agile Scrum methodologies, and mentoring cross-functional teams.
- Ability to articulate technical and organizational implications of real-world solutions and foster open, collaborative communication.
- Demonstrated leadership through influence, inspiration, collaboration, and teamwork.
- Proven track record of advising senior IT groups and building strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, capable of engaging technical and non-technical audiences.
- Passion for teaching, mentoring, and elevating cloud competency across the enterprise.
Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience required.
- 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with minimum 5 years' experience in a senior IT management role or leadership roles.
- At least 5 years' experience with cloud technologies including Azure, AWS
- Proven track record in implementing DevOps practices and culture in large organizations
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g Terraform, Cloud Formation)
- Strong understanding of cloud Governance, security, and compliance frameworks
- Excellent Communication Skills and ability to influence C-level executives
- Familiarity with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Experience with multi-cloud management and optimization strategies
- Knowledge of data center operations and hybrid cloud integration techniques.

Compensation: Competitive salary and bonus eligibility; this role is eligible for company vehicle program.
