Job Description
Position Objective:
The Test Engineer has technical ownership of assigned test programs including evaluation and test rig related facility engineering projects. This includes documentation of existing test capabilities along with scoping of test requests vs. test rig capability and organizing review of tests with STL leadership and customer. Follow developed processes to ensure test programs are developed that meet customer CTQ's (safety, quality, delivery, cost) and fit within facility capabilities using C&DT electronic test system eTOS . The objective of this position is to assess incoming test requests, review with STL TLs, support customer response and reviews, determine test rig modifications/upgrades are required to meet requirements and to support negotiation of requirements. Lead, organize and/or team member of design projects to ready test rig. Follow/implement applicable C&DT processes, including eTOS, HazOp, Controls, Red Flag, Tollgate Reviews.

Specific Responsibilities & Key Results Expected:
- Provide technical interface and test lead of assigned test programs. Act as primary customer interface responsible for customer CTQ's and deliverables, supporting TL Test Engineering.
- Responsible for the planning, preparation and satisfactory execution of test programs.
- Understand test and facility capabilities and collaborate with customers to design tests that can be achieved within facility capabilities or through feasible, approved extensions of lab capabilities and P&E planning.
- Work closely with other technical leaders, other test and facility engineers, technicians, data acquisition/controls team and trades to identify and implement betterments to test facilities.
- Project management of test related activities including the design and coordination of facility modifications, data acquisition set up, hardware installation, operations planning and test documentation.
- Provide technical lead and critical review of new equipment designs and installations. Perform assigned periodic reviews of installations to ensure systems continue to meet design intent.
- Deliver technical presentations at design reviews and other program reviews (safety reviews, red flag reviews, Tollgate reviews and similar). Track and promote assigned action items and TIMES items in electronic reporting/tracking systems. Support development, track and complete assigned TIMES items. Maintain Test Record File and ISO compliance.
- Perform/project manage engineering analysis of test vehicle systems and their performance (stress analysis, thermodynamic analysis, sensitivity analyses, enthalpy calculations, over speed analyses and similar) using C&DT resources.
- Establish work priorities consistent with Lab goals and objectives. Compile team input and present to STL Leadership. Ensure technical, objectives met. Drive schedule and support meeting financial test objectives.
- Prepare and review test and test vehicle related documentation.
- Lead assigned test operation, plan resource need and work with STL TL's/Facilitator for DAS, Test Operations, Crafts support.
- Provide technical guidance and work planning direction to crafts and technicians.
Required:
- BS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aero Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Candidates should have 5-8 years of relevant experience.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of instrumentation and measurement systems, power plant and process equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchangers, compressors and similar), data acquisition systems and data processing.
- Skillful problem solver and troubleshooter; Strong technical communication (verbal and written).
- Strong Customer focus and commitment to teamwork and team success
- Ability to lead a cross-functional team
- Experience in power plant operations, turbo machinery design, engineering, and/or laboratory testing.
- MS Degree in Physics, Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
- Experience in steam turbine technology, laboratory or performance testing.
- Knowledgeable in Unigraphics and/or AutoCAD
- Experience with Ansys, NX and Autodesk inventor
Pay Transparency:
For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is 98,400.00 - 164,000.00 USD Annual .The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 10 % annual performance incentive.
