Join GE Vernova's Grid Systems Integration team and play a key role in delivering the energy transition through world-class HVDC projects.
The Senior Project Engineering Manager (PEM) is accountable for the end-to-end engineering execution of large and complex HVDC projects, ensuring safe, high-quality, on-time, and on-budget delivery. The role serves as the primary engineering leader and customer technical interface, coordinating multidisciplinary global engineering teams and ensuring successful project execution from contract handover through commissioning and project closeout.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering Leadership
- Lead and manage the complete engineering execution of HVDC projects from project launch through commissioning and handover.
- Act as the single point of accountability for engineering delivery, including safety, quality, schedule, cost, engineering risks, and customer satisfaction.
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across System Engineering, Primary Plant, Civil & Structural, Control & Protection, Studies, Mechanical, Telecom, and Commissioning disciplines.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are completed in accordance with contractual requirements, technical specifications, project milestones, and quality standards.
Technical & Interface Management
- Manage all engineering interfaces between customers, consortium partners, suppliers, contractors, and internal functions.
- Drive technical alignment across global engineering centers and solution line organizations.
- Lead engineering design reviews and technical governance activities.
- Ensure robust configuration management, design control, and document management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Anticipate, identify, and mitigate engineering risks and technical issues impacting project delivery.

HVDC Engineering Governance
- Ensure compliance with HVDC reference design, engineering standards, grid code requirements, and project-specific technical specifications.
- Support Solution Engineering teams in ensuring approved technical solutions and identified gaps are addressed and delivered.
- Lead engineering change management and ensure strict adherence to approved change processes.
- Oversee technical integration of subcontractor and partner engineering deliverables.
Project Delivery & Performance
- Own engineering KPIs including on-time delivery, engineering budget performance, quality, productivity, and first-time-right execution.
- Coordinate engineering activities with Procurement, Manufacturing, Construction, Site Management, and Commissioning teams.
- Support project claims management, variation orders, and technical commercial discussions.
- Contribute to project reviews, risk assessments, and executive management reporting.
Customer Engagement
- Serve as the primary engineering interface with utility customers, developers, transmission operators, and consortium partners.
- Lead technical workshops, design reviews, and executive customer discussions.
- Provide clear communication of technical decisions, project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
Continuous Improvement
- Promote standardization, digital engineering tools, automation, and best practices across projects.
- Lead Return on Experience (RoE) and lessons learned initiatives.
- Support development and mentoring of engineering talent within the organization.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in EPC project engineering within the power transmission industry.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale HVDC, FACTS, or EHV transmission projects.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering leadership roles such as Lead Engineer, Engineering Manager, Project Engineering Manager, or Technical Project Manager.
- Strong understanding of engineering execution processes across all project phases from design through commissioning.

- Experience on major HVDC EPC projects exceeding USD 300M.

Travel Requirements
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 20-30%) depending on project needs.
