The General Motors Global IT Organization is seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for potential future opportunities as a Staff Systems Configurator - SAP Functional Analyst. The Role
In this strategic senior role, you will serve as a Staff SAP Functional Analyst responsible for leading the delivery of scalable, sustainable SAP solutions aligned with enterprise clean core strategies. You will oversee configuration and solution design across SAP S/4HANA and related extensions, ensuring adherence to standard SAP capabilities and minimizing custom development to preserve upgradeability and reduce technical debt.
You will be a key contributor to transformation initiatives, driving regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and process standardization, automation, and innovation.
What You'll Do:
- Lead SAP configuration and solution architecture for Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, and related processes.
- Oversee complex order management, billing, warranty, financial postings, supplier collaboration, logistics, inventory, and warehouse operations.
- Direct cross-functional collaboration with business analysts, architects, developers, and business teams to gather requirements and implement scalable SAP solutions.
- Guide testing, validation, and deployment of SAP enhancements and new functionalities.
- Manage SAP interfaces with logistics providers, payment gateways, and tax engines.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support for SAP SD, FI-CO, MM, WM, and related modules.
- Integrate SAP with external systems such as supplier portals, EDI platforms, and automation tools.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Lead SAP upgrades, S/4HANA migrations, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Apply standard SAP functionality to meet business requirements, minimizing unnecessary customization.
- Mentor and develop junior SAP analysts, fostering a culture of clean core practices and continuous learning.
- Ensure compliance with IT standards, security protocols, and industry best practices.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of hands-on SAP experience, including advanced configuration of SD, FI-CO, MM, WM, EWM, SRM, or Ariba.
- Demonstrated leadership in SAP clean core principles and modern extensibility approaches.
- Proven ability to deliver upgrade-safe, cloud-compliant solutions aligned with SAP best practices.
- Strong business process knowledge in Order Management, Pricing, Billing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Purchasing, Warehousing, and Master Data.
- Deep understanding of SAP S/4HANA and solution extensions.
- Experience supporting integration with other SAP modules and external systems.
- Expertise in software testing, automation, and quality assurance.
- Familiarity with ABAP for debugging and analysis, with a focus on clean core-compatible enhancements.
- Commitment to organizational values and behaviors such as innovation, integrity, and inclusivity.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- SAP certification in relevant modules.
- Experience with SAP Automotive Suite, or similar industry solutions.
- Familiarity with SAP Fiori, SAP BTP, and cloud-based SAP integrations.
- Experience working with manufacturers, suppliers, or service providers.

This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI or Austin, TX, three times per week, at minimum, or as dictated by business needs.
