The Motorsports Strategic Planning and Operations Manager is an integral member of a passionate, enthusiastic, and highly motivated team. This role requires being a key contributor and leader in developing long-term activation plans, short term tactical plans, and overseeing day to day operations. Much of what we do involves being at the track on weekends overseeing event operations, with fairly extensive travel.

Travel Requirement:

  • Adaptable and flexible lifestyle enabling extensive business travel, including partial or full weekends
  • Select travel may require a passport and/or ability to secure
  • Must be willing to travel up to 40% Domestically

In this role, collaboration, along with building and maintaining relationships, is key as we work closely with many internal and external partners to build marketing plans that help drive the business. A key component is working closely with Marketing Divisions and Regional teams to identify integration and collaboration opportunities and/or opportunities to enhance consumer engagement through our mobile tours, vehicle displays and driver talent. You will also serve as a liaison with the sanctioning bodies, teams, drivers, sponsors, and track operators while networking with key industry professionals to build long term enterprise value and managing our on-going business relationships.

This role is specific to Chevrolet Motorsports , which include NASCAR, INDYCAR, IMSA Sportscars (Corvette), NHRA and Offroad Truck.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Create strategies to amplify prospect engagement in new product displays designed to influence KPI's
  • Manage annual marketing budget, forecast monthly and quarterly commitments and annual accruals
  • Serve as a liaison with Divisional leadership, maintaining on-going dialog on current and emerging issues and developing ways to integrate racing assets into mainstream marketing initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with business process controls policies including asset distribution, 1099 tracking, and information lifecycle management
  • Supervise purchase order requirements, invoice processing, shopping carts, and related approvals
  • Manage annual vehicle inventories, collaborating with the competition team, vehicle coordination, and finance to align forecast with budget
  • Supervise and participate in contractual negotiations with tracks, sanctioning bodies, drivers and suppliers, while managing related approvals with the agency, finance and legal
  • Develop and manage event activation schedules, promotional calendars, mobile tours, vehicle & accessories display properties and staffing needs
  • Supervise on-site event activation including, product displays, pre-race activities, pace cars and related safety protocol, event support vehicles, run of show schedules and other on-site elements where applicable
  • Coordinate branding compliance, develop annual style guides, and manage consistency across venues, support vehicles, race teams, track equipment, facilities and track signage
  • Collaborate with regional marketing teams and enterprise partners to leverage our contractual assets to help drive their business
  • Work with competition colleagues on issues core to marketing and communication plans Pace car and truck oversight including maintaining leadership alignment on vehicle recommendation, GM Design collaboration, vehicle sourcing, build coordination, deployment schedules and safety protocol
  • Liaison with Global Logistical Services (GLS) maintaining vehicle and race show car inventories, shipping coordination and invoice/billing approvals

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 7+ years Marketing experience required
  • Racing or automotive experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of our dealer sales and service environment
  • Experience in marketing, advertising, agency / vendor coordination & divisional / field support
  • Self-motivated with proven leadership and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to work well in a complex environment and collaborate with assigned promotional agencies, vehicle coordination, finance, race partners, and regions to generate results
  • Experienced in contract negotiation and working with internal and outside legal teams to draft contractual documents
  • Ability to manage creative development, facilitate effective brainstorming among colleagues and demonstrate sound business judgement
  • Strong project management, including execution, follow through and delegation where appropriate
  • Ability to communicate clearly while using a variety of tools
  • Comfortable presenting and speaking in front of internal and external audiences
  • Capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects, aligning and communicating with cross-functional stakeholders/leadership and able to recommend, develop and implement solutions
  • Attention to detail and desire to take ownership of assigned projects
  • Ability to problem solve and develop cross functional solutions with divisions and internal teams
  • High-level of interpersonal skills and motivated to work with and through internal and external partners to achieve success
